Title: thinking of buying an Anni But.........
Post by: mikemk4gti on 11 April 2010, 21:44
  .......its a cat D!
Was light panel damaged in 2005 and was repaired by VW, to look at you cant tell at all. Its done 75k with good service history.
What would you say its worth and should I avoid it???

Offer them £4000.

Then If Your not happy with it at a later date you could sell it on & not really loose anything.

Is it Petrol or Diesel?

petrol, 52 plate in silver.

You could get a nice sum back by breaking it if you couldn't sell it on.

Seats, interior, headliner, wheels, bumpers and engine will all go for a good price!

Yeah true, but They wont take £4k, they've been offered more than that already.

Seems pricey, considering you can get alot of 60k GTI's  for £4,000 or slightly less with the cambelt just changed.

You'd be lucky to get 4k for one WITH the cambelt changed mate these days.

I would say that prity good to be fear for a Anny. If it was just boddy and not chassis damage i would say go for it. I think i would if i had seent that a few months ago.
Love the anny. Thay have so many bits that just make it that bit more of a speshal Golf :D

Cheap anni though isnt it. If your happy paying that id go have a look at it, make sure repairs have been done properly and try get it for 4.5k area.

Thats all any other potential buyer will do, if all is repaired properly then why not.

I've also been looking at an S3, 02 plate, 100k miles for £5000. Insurance is cheaper on the s3 than the anni for some reason

the anni's probably rarer, and stolen for parts more i guess

Thing is, when I come to sell it I don't want it to be worth a lot less than I paid. Since I sold my mk4 4 weeks ago I've had to A3's already, but now I'm looking for something to keep for at least 6m + and to be worth what I pay for it now.

Right, looking good for the anni now, he's accepted my offer. Still having second thoughts though with it being a cat D.

Make sure he shows you round the repairs that were taken out and inspect to make sure its properly done.

Wouldn't worry if its all good.

I had the same with mine but only a 1.8T non anni, as long as the repairs are done well, its documented and is in YOUR price bracket then go for it, just keep it and bare in mind the re sell value.....

I've just done a hpi check on to make sure everything else is ok but it never said whether it was car c or d?

Post by: 5miffy on 13 April 2010, 21:21
I don't think it does, I think it'll show on the Logbook as accident recorded repair, with or without a VIC check...
Title: Re: thinking of buying an Anni But.........
Post by: mikemk4gti on 13 April 2010, 21:29
oh right ok, I'll have to check that then. thanks.

Don't take that for granted but its how mine shows....
Title: Re: thinking of buying an Anni But.........
Post by: mikemk4gti on 13 April 2010, 21:32
ok, is there any other way to be sure??
Title: Re: thinking of buying an Anni But.........

Get the details of the repair(s) i.e the repair centre like a receipt or info on the buyback from the insurance company should that have been the case, check why its not recorded on HPI, might be a reason... Also if the person who owns the car is the person that has had the accident/repairs done then it won't show on the logbook until it comes to you.  Make sure you get the VIC test document should it need it.... very important.

well, log book says it has had a VIC check 24/11/2006. so is it defo a Cat C then?
Title: Re: thinking of buying an Anni But.........
Post by: 5miffy on 14 April 2010, 18:21
Yeah, I'm sure Cat D doesn't require a VIC check.....
