When I bought the Golf R Rising Blue I always had the idea, that the car that I was buying was exactly as the one seen in Frankfurt...
But day after day the pictures that I find make me doubt about this colour..

How does it really looks??, I know some of you have seen it in UK, could you please help me out?.. I don´t have to much time left to change it.
-
Different lighting, different cameras, different photo results. The Scirocco R I've seen looks to be between the two. Well, when it's overcast anyway. But it was darker than the Deep Blue Pearl R32 parked next to it.
-
There's one in the Warrington Dealer if you're local to Cheshire.
It's in the show room, first car on the right as you go inside.
Nice colour. If I was to buy an R it would be Rising Blue or white (with black rims). But I pref the GTI.
However.... it did get me thinking should have I gone for the GTI on order in the rising blue and not Black. I always liked the blue R32's, thought they looked stunning.
Think you've done a good call on the colour.

The photos in Frankfurt look great, but are not realistic! Its a motor show where the cars are polished up to the max, and then put under heaps of specially placed spot lights to make it look as good as it can.
I've got a couple of Scirocco's (not R's) in rising blue live near me, and I can tell you that I agree with mac7 in that it looks somewhere between the two photos in real life... but more like the second one.
If you look at the thread about Shadow Blue - you can see the difference in colour when the sun is out, and when its dull. Its the same with Rising Blue!
-
Just find a Mk5 R32 in Deep Blue Pearl. Rising Blue on the Mk6 R is almost identical to that.
-
That second pic looks very light, probably due to the light coloured buildings though.
Do you have to Spec the black headlights, they look much better. I've seen a few pics with them but all the cars at dealers have the chrome effect.
-
I'd put money on the showroom car having a different colour. Couldn't it be one of the german only colours?
E.g. Deep Blue Perleffekt
If I paid £2000 extra for that paint job though, I'd be too nervous to take the car out anywhere!

Just had a fiddle in Photoshop and those two colours are completely different.
Had a look on VW Deutsche and The top one is either Deep Blue Pearl or Inky Blue Pearl
-
Ha Ha Ha.. Nobody knows how is it!!, If any of you had a dealer with one of them, some pictures would help everyone. I don´t one see the car the day that I get it and say sh!t!, son´t like it at all!!

How can photoshop tell you the original car's colours are different when it's only looking at an image? The photos were taken under completely different lighting conditions and judging by the quality of the images very different cameras.

As said, it's a little darker than deep blue pearl and not as vivid, if that makes sense. Unfortunately taking more photos won't tell you any more than you already know - although there are lots to look at in this forum if you search the various Golf R threads.

You can see in the palette how close the colours are and by changing the hue and saturation to see if it matches.
Initially I did think it was because of the reflection of the buildings as they are very bright. Then I looked on the German VW site and they have the list of colours with samples. The DBP and Ink Blue look similar, Rising Blue is much lighter than both of them

Yes, and that compares the colour of one digital image with another - but not the actual cars. Which are the same colour.

It's not the buildings, it's the ambient lighting. The colour temperature and colour rendering of overcast daylight and studio lighting (which could be halogen, metal halide or something else) can be significantly different. Plus the paint colour images on the German VW configurator are a guide and can't, for example, convey the effects of pearl, metallic and base finishes. Having seen Rising blue I can tell you the configurator shade is way off.

Hi Guys I´ve seen one in Madrid!!.. It is amazing!, sooo different than the ones I saw on pictures. I took the right decision, "Rising Blue" is my choice.
-
Smith knight fay in Bolton have a white one, noticed it today as I went to book my car in for it's service. Looks very nice, anybody ordered it in White?
-
Rising blue is a standard colour on the scirocco why not just go visit any dealer they probably have a scirocco in that colour or if theres as many sciroccos around your area as mine just sit at the side of the road for 30 mins one will come along.

The black is too glossy and bling,
Gunmetal Grey would look better imo (but i would say that wouldn't i ) :smug:

I don't think that really works on blue either myself. Red yes, silver maybe, blue no.

Seen a white 3 door yesterday. Best colour I've seen so far. But then it was clean! Owning a white ED30, although it looks great when clean, I don't think I would buy another white car. It's them bloody tar spots - pain in the arse!!

For all of those waiting... here's a few more photos of a Rising Blue R at Southend VW

Nice pics
The colour and camera angles look much better here than previous pics we've seen so far. To echo P33PS, silver on rising blue does work v well.
