Title: Oil coming out dipstik

Went out this mornin -8, Anyway as i was drivin after about 10mins noticed temp gauge close 2 maximum, Got home an lifted bonnet, An oil splattered everywhere but water level fine, Put sum oilin an started it up, An it was startin to puff out dipstik,
I rang my mate an he reckons breather blocked ,GTI 16v

Its cold out there, Where abouts is it situated so i can head straight for it, An what should i do with it, :cry:

on the front of the block its the ally bit with a large diameter pipe coming out and going to the airbox via the inlet. if you take the housing off the block i believe theres a gauze in there that could be blocked?

I just started it up again, An leavin it runnin, So far so gud, It dont help my dipstik is split so its quite easy 2 force out of,

it might be worth cleaning the pipe out, thats a quick job and might help things a bit.

Yeah i will do that i think, I been squeezin it, An twice i catched my little finger on alternator belt, You think you would learn the 1st time,especially in this cold weather, :laugh:

Oh well it has fixed itself, Must of been froze or somethin cause i ay used it in 3 days an its been down 2 minus 13 over nite,

I was about to say the breather had frozen up. But if your water temp also went sky high, then make sure your coolant has not frozen up too. Either that or you have a damaged piston causing crankcase compression.

Have to agree, sounds like the coolant was frozen as well, get some more antifreeze in there or you'll strip the blades off the waterpump impeller or worse!

Yeah i was wonderin why it affected my coolant temp, Just been out 4 about an hour drivin, An its all ok now, So gunna lamp some more anti freeze in, just 2 be on safe side,
