replaced top mounts on my 8v recently as the drivers side was deffo collapsed with loadsa play when jacked up, been on a few weeks, had a look yesterday+ the drivers is still sitting alot higher than the other one, Like 6-7mm more
When replacing everything looked fine+ in good shape, is this just a dodgy top mount from gsf + a coincidence that its on the same side or should i be checking for anything more sinister, btw not being driven ATM due to exhaist+ brake pipes waiting for replacement.
-
i aways replace both i have gsf ones on mine.
there fine
-
yeh ive done both GSF ones?
-
my GSF top mounts are fecked after 18 months...didn't even last as long as my hottunings....
-

-

Advice I got on top-mounts is that anything other than genuine VW ones ends up being false economy. Just spend a bit extra and get gen VW mounts. Also remember to change the bearings.

No point to be honest, the Febi ones are just as good and loads cheaper.

i agree with this, i bought febi ones when i fitted my coilies and they left quite large gaps in the top plates and just genrally didnt fit right so i payed the extra and got genuine vr6 ones which are larger and fit alot nicer..

Not being funny but genuine or aftermarket you will end up replacing them in the end, not really a fit and forget item.
My Febi ones are still fine, they have done over 9k now.

Yes I had a gap but passed the mot all ok and are still going fine with the new owner, over 9k miles of use now.
Also the gap was down to me putting them together wrong just never bothered to sort it.
