Title: More pics wanted, Sorry!
Post by: Jimble on 01 November 2009, 14:19
I know i've asked for pics before but now it's really getting serious! i'm going to order my 5dr gti with standard 17" monza's this week but i'm really struggling to make up my mind which colour to go for, the problem is that my internet search skills are pretty pants and all i seem to see are 18" wheels which doesn't help much, some of you on here got some pics of white up for me which was great and i've seen red, shadow blue, and one of steel grey on here.
would love to see Reflex silver, Carbon grey and maybe some more Steel grey all with 17's please?
any uploads or links would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my Blue Graphite, which is on 17s.

My neighbour, who is a car freak, came over to admire it yesterday and said, "nice alloys!".

So there.

I did like the 5 door reflex silver one i first got to see in a dealers showroom with the 17s on i thought they worked well on the reflex silver. I nearly went for this combo myself.

I chickened out and went for silver, it hides the dirt the best and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb when parked up. My last Golf was Steel (United) Grey. That too was easy to look after and was discreet.
I love the look of the mk6 in red and white too, but in my very humble opinion both of these colours need the Shadow Monzas to contrast with their paint jobs.
Black looks lovely just after you clean it, for the other 99.9% of the time it looks dirty. My other car is black, my Dad's car is black and my sister has just ordered a black car. The two former just look like they need a wash all of the time, I told my sister she was daft ordering black and she told me to 'go away' or something vaguely similar.

Agree with the black car.

My MK5 is black and is a nightmare to keep clean, not buying a black car again after the MK5. But as you also said it looks orgasmic after you clean it (for about 2 hours).

I totally agree! i've got a steel grey mk5 now and find it easy to look after and had a silver Corsa (sshhh) before that and that was easy too, I think it's down to grey or silver tbh, i like the way the rear lights contrast on the grey and it looks lovely when you take the time to wax it properly but i've had grey for the last 2.5 years so i don't know if i just fancy a change???? :undecided:

My Dad said something along those lines. He had a silver Bora for the last four years, ordered a Jetta in black 'for a change' and is now having some regrets!

As a lifelong user of "gypsy" car washes... I'm actually enjoying looking after my black car :)

Perhaps this is still the honeymoon phase, but the joy from seeing that deep deep shine is worth it.

I own a couple of silver GTIs  and to me its the colour that hides the dirt very well.
I did really like the mk6 GTI silver 5 door one i got to see with the 17s on and nearly ordered that colour myself but my last car was silver and i own 2 other silver GTIs so i thought i needed a change.
Mind if i was ordering again i think i may have gone for red, i don't normally like red cars but the more red mk6 golfs i see on the street the more i like that colour on them.

I bought a silver SAAB 9-5 back in 2001 with a beige leather interior and at the time it looked the bee’s knees. At the time it looked different, but now every second car seems to be silver, where is the exclusivity?

These days I think white is the new silver or could it be the carbon grey?

Fashion goes round in circles and a lot of new car buyers now seem to be going for solid colors rather than metallic.

We ordered the GTI in Tornado Red, why, because red and GTI (IMO) go hand in hand.

^As does silver as it too is the other one of the two original GTI colours of the mk1 when it was first released .

Yeah I know, but these days when you look in a Supermarket car park, I bet you the majority of the cars will be silver. In a couple of years time who knows, possibly white?
