This one has been for a sale for a few weeks now:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1233700.htm
I was tempted to go and see it myself, because if it is as described then a few quid chucked at it to bring it back to standard (get rid of the smoked lights etc) will mean you have a £4k-£5k car for potentially £2.5k (after haggling). :)
... but then I thought having two 100% unmolested and original 'valvers' might be a bit greedy!

noticed a black one on ebay that looks immaculate 110437091534
What should i look for if i went to buy it
-
Rust, rust, misaligned panels and rust. Any suspension or mechanical bits can be replaced, the shell can't if it's rotten.

A lot less than what she's now worth. ;)
It took me a fair few months to find as well. Low Milage (sub 100k) unmolested 16 'valvers' are a rare breed and at today's prices you'll need at least £3k in your sky to get a half decent one, £4k-£5k for a really good un, and £5k for an absolute minter.
If you do find one though you'll be in the money, cos they are rapidly appreciating in value as the years go on.
:)

The scrappage scheme has helped raise the price too

I found a mint cindition oak green g60, been converted by stealth
What was the g60 like ?
-
Notorious for not running properly & breaking down
If the charger has been rebuilt recently (they need it every 40k) and it is running sweet now, I don't see why not as long as it has a decent service history and the shell is in good condition.
-
apparently the engine was fitted 1000 miles ago by stealth and had new supercharger etc

If you are buying as an investment, stick with OEM. Edition one G60s are very rare though, so prepare to budget £4.5k minimum.
-
this ones a conversion and still on the log book as a gti
Still looking and scowering, the guy for the white one wont take less than £2700 and i think thats a bit steep for that car ?
What you think

Might be, might not it's condition that is key.
I bought an OG16v off PH's with only 110k on the clock, spent a bit on putting it through it's MOT, took my girlfriend away for the weekend and the chef at the hotel wanted to buy it for 2.5k. And this is before I sort the paintwork out  I'm still putting an ABF in mine though as I didn't buy it to wrap it in cotton wool...
thought you might find this useful

You could do alot worse than go here http://www.volkscars.com/home/
I bought mine off him. He always has a choice of genuine, original few owner cars, with nice mileage. I may have paid a bit more than from a private seller, but it saved me the fuel, time off work and effort of going to look at others.
