I think this has been spoken about before but I couldn't remember if it was a straight fit or not...can someone confirm? Cheers :)
-
I think it is although may be easier to find a MK3.5 Cab wheel as that will deffo fit.

But what if I can save myself £40 odd with the purchase of the Lupo one :P if there is a slight amount of work that needs to be done that is fine, I have an airbag already and this one I'm looking at also has an airbag, when people say work needs to be done with regards to airbags...what do they mean?
-
Search!!
The Polo GTi is a straight fit and so is the Lupo

I did search, but came up with 3 threads, and the one that actually spoke of the Lupo wheel didn't confirm is haha! Anyway, just realized it's actually a Polo steering wheel, exactly the same as this:

No I couldn't of lol! I will be buying a new engine when my student finance comes through, besides, my engine is bullet proof, it begs to be driven with fecked piston rings. :lipsrsealed:

I tell you, if that did another 20K I wouldn't be surprised. Keeping on regular top ups I guess anyway.

Don't, it f**king hurts. Some chav in a Corsa at work the other day came in, I moved it across the yard, ad he's installed all this audio sh!t, really badly, well the clock was flickering as was the airbag light and it went off in my face. :( I have bur marks from the gun powder.

Full guide link in the link, mines the Gti leather one with red stitching and was £50 deliverd to the door Shady!

Got it today but can't remove the bloody front part off, there should be two screws/bolts in the back but there aren't, so do I just pull it off or what? I'm scared I'm going to kill myself lol!
-
You wimp Shady!
Should just come away after undoing bolts!
-
It's okay, got it off now, just
waiting for the static to drain off the
battery so I can safely remove the old one :)
-
Right, got it on, looks the shiz, horn works, airbag looks to be working, but I've f**ked up somewhere, when turning the wheel, the little bit of plastic just behind the wheel itself (also behind the original wheel) is catching on something inside the wheel, my guess is its the horn wire.
As a result, every time the wheel does a rotation it is clicking which will fecking annoy me. However my problem now is I can't get the front of the wheel off, as I had to do that originally when I got the wheel and had to stick a long flat headed screwdriver down the two holes to release the springs, and there is no angle for me to do that now.
Any help?

No, never, never has never will, so I'm going to have this lovely ticking noise now when I drive as I can't get the f**king wheel off!
-
Shady looks the nuts. Did it take long?
-
Does look nice.
I love the interior
-
Apparently there a b!tch to get off, just turn the music up
-
I need to get it off really as it'll annoy the crap out of me, turned the music up today which wasn't a problem but other days it will be haha. Was going to try again in the week but failing that I'll seemif VW will help me out.
The interior is the next thing now, cream leather eventually. So will look great soon enough. Took about 30 minutes to get the old one off and this one on, old was was piece of cake btw. Thank you by the way chrisford, you influenced me to do this :)
-
Cream leather....
Smoooooooooth.
-
All fixed now, turns out the spinning wheel on the back of the wheel itself was on it's full rotation to one side so just turned it back 2 and a half times and all is good, the wheel was a b!tch to get off but a nice flatheaded screwdriver sorted all that :)

Your lucky it didn't snap the wire inside the slipring by it being 2 and a half turns wrong !!

Well thing is it kept slipping out, it's hard to explain unless you saw it but it wasn't tight, it just kept releasing the pressure and going back to the centre.
-
Yeah I snapped mine in my ibiza by it being 1 turn out.. The airbag light stayed on then until I replaced it !!

Damn, that sucks, guess I was lucky then. Mind you my new problem is the trim around the steering wheel is all loose, I broke the plastic that holds the screws in place when trying to screw the screws back in lol! One thing after another.
-
Always the way solve one problem and get another.. Atleast its easy enough to sort though !!

Yup, scrappies tomorrow and on the hunt for trim lol! Due a trip there anyway.
Anyone else encouraged to do this mod now? It's so much nicer than the standard gash looking wheel. I advise you to do it lol!
-
I would, but as it's such an easy thing to do, I can see it being a popular mod, like Vento front ends. I'll stick with my tiny little momo style wheel instead lol.

Not many people have done it though  Not personally a fan of aftermarket steering wheels as they look too Jap. This keeps the OEM look and you'd never know it wasn't meant to be in the car in the first place. :smug:
-
That trim is a nightmare, mine would never do up tight, I superglued them in the end.
-
Thank you by the way chrisford, you influenced me to do this :)
Cheers mate glad to help and it looks so much better.
Following your style I got some polo gti rx2's as the rx's look so good on yours

Apart from removing the wheel to adjust the spinwheel, it was a piece of cake, so thank you :) have you put the BBS on yet?
-
Sorry but IMO that is naff!
Much prefer the standard one, well the Gti one that is!

Had one on the other day as I got a spike in my tyre. They have the usual problems and need a refurb just need some time and an idea on the colour, thinking polished rim and anthracite center or maybe get my Dad to colour code the center, don't know yet.
Any ideas?
