Coming back work just now some scallywag in a modded Corsa comes shooting round a corner on one of the country lanes near me...and in an attempt to swerve my left front Monza II clipped a rock hiding in the dirt embankment. I don't think there's a way to repair the wheel as it's made a 10mm²x5mm deep gouge on the black powercoated/sprayed area. Any idea's how much a new Monza II costs? My stealer's shut until the morning

Feel for you mate. I think a decent refurbisher will be able to weld up the damage prior to re-turning the face of the wheel, but it'd never be perfect. Sorry, can't help with the price of a new wheel.
-
Ouch, sorry to hear this.... I think a new rim will be in the region of £300 but a least your bodywork didn't take a whack.

Thanks mate. Looks like I'll be getting out the credit card yet again in the morning. And good point...I'm glad the bumper or wing mirror didn't get swiped

A good wheel refurbisher would be able to sort this no bother.
My mate had something similar sized on one oh his Mazda alloys and you can't even see the repair. £40

Hiya P3asa noticed you're in Eaglesham! have you run your new GTI over Eaglesham Moor that would be a damn grand run out to test the capabilities of the car. When I lived in Glasgow we used to do the full circle out through Clarkston up to Eaglesham across the moor and back through Kilmarnock it was a great run especially on a wild night.!! Great memories some 14 years ago now tho lol.

lol a Mazda alloy wheel is a bit different to a diamond cut Monza 2 wheel I'm afraid. It will need specialist refurbishment.
As someone said earlier your looking at about £300 - £350 for a new wheel from the dealer (at least that's what the Monza 2s for the MK5s cost)

That is very true. But certainly worth approaching a few repairers first I'd imagine.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't go marching in to VW and buy a new wheel straight away. Speak to a couple of refurb places first as it will be MUCH cheaper than a new wheel and see what their take on it is. Most of these companies send the wheels off to a special machine for the diamond cut so you will have to run on the spare wheel for a few days, all depends if they have an onsite machine (most the places I spoke to down in London didnt)

I never ordered a GTi. I didn't think I could afford it at the time although I probably could now but too late
I just hang about in here cos the crack is better
I'm just waiting on my GT TDi arriving which was built 2 weeks ago but no word from the dealer
Anyway, The moor road would be good considering it isn't used now because of the Eaglesham bypass so it is dead most of the time.

No probs mate anyone is welcome on here the more the merrier, anyway the GT tdi looks a nice beasty too so no doubt you'll be well chuffed with her when she is delivered. Enjoy

Saw a GTD today, looked fantastic.
-
Well, had a quote for the wheel plus a Potenza with next day delivery and fitting...£500 *faints*

Surely a specialist wheel furb outfit can fill and repair for a lot less.

They do look nice, however I'm not sure thats the one he is getting. I think its just a Sporty TDI.
That is much more than I thought it was going to be, even with the rubber

A quick pic for those interested

That'll be my next step I think. 500 smackers for some cosmetic work is OTT. I'll be looking at a couple of refurbishing places a colleague suggested to me
-
Not sure where you're based but A1 in Wolverhampton are awesome. If anyone can sort it they can.
-
That is a nasty damage... I am not sure whether it can be done up since the damage is on the polished surfaced and the painted bit. My workshop informed me the Monzas if damaged are irrepairable.
But I wish you all the best... Hope some workshop in the UK can do it...

ouch. just took a rather large intake of air. horrible mate.

Aye :( Sods law: of all the places I could've taken a bump, it had to be where several surfaces and angles meet!
