pretty much im giving my car and its moving parts (aka the engine and wheel bits) a once over.
im looking at getting some new brake pads and disks. im not a fast driver but im faster then average, so im thinking green stuff pads but what disks?
pretty much what are you all running, what do you swear by, what do you swear against. as long as its constructive all opinions are welcome

What Make, Model and Year is your car?

Just done the brakes on my mk3 gti, standard discs mintex on the front omp on the back, you can fit grooved discs but expensive and not neccessary unless you are a bit of a crazy driver. They do look good though.

im not bothered about how my brakes look i need them to work.
ive got a 2.0 8v 95' mk3

The grooves apparently allow gasses to escape under extremely heavy braking and avoid brake fade.
-
yeah thats cool. i know all the benifits of the different types but i just need to know which ones actually work
-
Well thats my advice anyway fit new standard discs and good quality pads. If you want better brakes then go for bigger front discs 288mm or 312 although I think there are restrictions with these, do a search.

I need groved disc's get brake fade too fast when I'm on a mad one
-
Thats fair enough mate if you can afford them they look good too

I have drilled brembo discs, and green stuff pads. And i cant really faul them. They dont give me brake fade, and i can stop a lot quicker than some more modern cars.

Yes you need to keep your eye on the mirror though incase the guy behind slams into you.
