brake combo opinions
« on: 30 July 2009, 23:22 »
pretty much im giving my car and its moving parts (aka the engine and wheel bits) a once over.

im looking at getting some new brake pads and disks. im not a fast driver but im faster then average, so im thinking green stuff pads but what disks?

pretty much what are you all running, what do you swear by, what do you swear against. as long as its constructive all opinions are welcome

Just done the brakes on my mk3 gti, standard discs mintex on the front omp on the back, you can fit grooved discs but expensive and not neccessary unless you are a bit of a crazy driver. They do look good though.

The grooves apparently allow gasses to escape under extremely heavy braking and avoid brake fade.

Well thats my advice anyway fit new standard discs and good quality pads. If you want better brakes then go for bigger front discs 288mm or 312 although I think there are restrictions with these, do a search.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=180315422121

I bought these, they are made by Mintex i think and its the same price as the standard ones from Euro Car Parts

Pad cost an additional £28 delivered and again Mintex.

I have been searching for weeks and this is best pound for pound deal i can find!
