I love the GTI, I love everything it stands for, but for me Black is the least attractive colour, I just think a lighter colour shows off its glorious curves and features more. They somewhat seem 'hidden' away in black. Is it just me ?
-
sweet, can't wait for mine now even more! thanks for the pics!
-
amazing colour. obviously pictures don't do it any justice, same for the car really. I saw these pictures months ago, from Germany i believe. :nerd:
-
:laugh:don`t mean to be picky but i don`t suppose you have a 3 dr black photo up you sleeve
-
I personally love the black which is obviously why I chose it for mine, also a 5 door. So thanks for those seriously gorgeous pics.

Would possibly consider Black if it were'nt for the fact my MK5 is DBP

I saw my first "live" GTi (i.e. one on the streets and not in a dealer) las week in central Leeds and it was just like this. Despite the fact that that I get my carbon grey one next Saturday the wife had to practically drag me off it!! In fact I'm thinking of divorcing her and marrying the car instead!!!!
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

just jizzed in my pants sorry people.    this colour has to be up there with the best, amongst red + white.

Men!
Black or white or red. The greatest colours.
Along with grey, I suppose! Crikey, I'm a bit surprised there isn't a turd-brown too.
Does it even occur to the designers that there might be some buyers not suffering from terminal x-chromosome deficiency?
So all that's left for anyone with a bit more subtlety in their tastes is two very very dark shades of blue. One of which is fairly "primary" itself, too.
I could just take their design team and shake them.

If you can call shadow blue metallic a shade of dark blue me thinks maybe you should be hurrying down to spec savers!! it is a almost royal blue which is certainly in no way dark. It also looks c>*p on the gti.

is there not two shades of grey? and two shades of blue? and two shades of black!? (non-metallic) not enough for you?!

I was shown a car (not a GTi) in Shadow Blue by the first dealer I visited, and I agree it's basically Royal Blue, but a very dark Royal. I didn't really think it would look good on the GTi, I agree.
I'd call it three shades of grey (silver is really a metallic grey), two of black and one of white. Have these guys no soul? I hope I'm going to like the Blue Graphite, but I'd have liked more choice. I can't help wondering if anyone at all is taking them up on the wide spectrum of colours they're advertising in Germany though. Over 2,000 euros is just jawdropping. I can't see the justification for that, as you can get similar colours on other cars for perfectly reasonable prices.
Maybe one day we'll be back to the 1960s and two-tone, stylish cars with some imagination and soul to them!

awesome, thanks for these!
looking all the more fwd to seeing this in the flesh tomo

That is a much better pic in black, stunning !

in my opinion, pictures NEVER do a car justice (real life pictures - not photoshopped stuff ).
When has anyone come back and said, 'oh do you know what, the pictures on the forum looked better than real life!'
Truth be told!

Thats your view but mine is different i like shadow blue on the GTI its why we have a mk5 in that colour and maybe soon a mk6 too. I like it better than all the many different borring shades of john mager grays or colour tinged shades of gray available.

Each to there own. I do wish there was a better colour range in the uk though.

I would agree the Blue Graphite can probably be described as a color tinged shade of grey. I just found the black/grey/white series boring, and the red too bright. And I preferred the Graphite to the Shadow, again the Shadow Blue is a shade I'm not that fond of.
I'm trying hard not to see the Blue Graphite as the best of a bad bunch, but for me I suppose it is. I probably wouldn't feel any resentment of all the blacks and greys (more than 50% of the colours available are black or grey) if there was a reasonable choice apart from that. I just think the designers haven't even imagined these cars might also attract lady owners.

how about a bright orange or bright green focus?
-
As has been posted before there are some fab colours on the German website albeit at an extortionate price, but it might be worth them giving us the choice of brighter colours at the same costs of the colours on offer now.
-

Good point! I'd have absolutely any of the colours on offer for the Golf in a heartbeat before I'd consider either of these.
That orange is offensive, and the green actively vomit-inducing.
And you might as well paint on a sign saying, just keep an eye on me Officer, and you'll have a successful cop in no time.

I really don't know why they don't. Since each car is built to specification, what harm would it do them to include maybe a lighter blue and a champagne or something like that? These colours are commonplace on cars, and perfectly popular, and don't cost any more than any of the others.
I've no particular objection to them including three shades of grey and two of black, but what on earth is the logic in providing such a wide choice to those who prefer monochrome shades, while restricting those of us who would have preferred a colour?
Frankly, the car is fairly gorgeous in any of the colours, but surely you have to accommodate a reasonably wide range of possible customer tastes to mmaximise sales?

I do wish they would make it for the UK in the light blue of the car shown at the paris motorshow (same as the scirocco blue iirc rather than deepbluepearl) and also the firespark red metallic of the car at the VW show a month ago or so, at least that would give us a little more of a choice. :undecided:
-
Heh Rolfe
Today I have seen a 5 door Graphite Blue GTI parked in a local car park and I think you are going to love yours when you get it, it's a colour I always rejected cos I'm a boring old middle ager and conservatively went for black cos I just love black (as good a reason as any I guess) anyway the graphite looked abso stunning all new and shiny admittedly it had the 18"s fitted which I think gave it extra class but again that is a matter of choice and of course opinion.
Keep up the posts.
-
I was just looking at the pics of the car they showed in Paris last year, and I absolutely loved the colour. I'd have bought that for sure. I don't know why, if it was good enough for one of the car's first public appearances, it wasn't good enough for the customers.
Still, I hope I will like the Blue Graphite. It's hard to say, as I haven't seen it on an actual car. I quite like the picture in the brochure, but the sample in the showroom seemed very dark.

Have you been on the volkswagen.co.uk site where you can configure your own gti, when you get to the paint colours you can add them all to your car to see which you like, at the end you just don't save your configuration. The colours are pretty much true to real life and give you a chance to see what you might order or might have already ordered. Give it a whirl girl
-
blue graphite on the vw website looks absolutely    . there only basic basic colour guides. ie- to show shades of grey silver etc. I would definetely not go by them to judge in real life.
-
Oh yes, I've loitered and played around there something rotten. The Blue Graphite doesn't look great on that simulation. I liked the illustration in the brochure better.
I expect I'll like it well enough. I'm just disappointed in the range of choice, and I probably wouldn't have chosen it if there had been something a bit more interesting. (Except the red, that's too interesting!)
Rolfe.

I agree with you that the online configurator does not really give an accurate picture of the colour. But it is the only way to get a rough idea of what you plan to get. I wonder why all of Europe are restricted to very few colours compared to buying from Germany.
