I ordered on 02may which was the day after the Xenon's were released for the GTI and mine still does not have a build week and the dealer called me two weeks ago to say it will be delayed. Im starting to question if its even on order?????
Title: Re: It`s on the boat
Post by: simonpolly on 08 July 2009, 19:12
Sounds fishy, did they order it when they said they did ?
Title: Re: It`s on the boat
Post by: neilgcal on 08 July 2009, 19:20
Well they definately though it would be here before September as they said i could pick it up then if arrives in August. Mind you i have been waiting so long, unless it arrives in the last week of August i will just be picking it up straight away and either way i have a plate to transfer onto it anyway.

I ordered seven-and-a-half HOURS ago.

The word "September" has been mentioned.  I'm not getting my hopes up though.

I remember coming home from a cycling holiday in Holland on a channel ferry.  Myself and my friend were stuck with our bikes at the back of the boat, behind an infinite number of brand new Fiestas with no reg plates, coming from Spain.  They were parked cheek by jowl and nose to tail.  And something seemed to be going on and there was quite a holdup, and we couldn't see another living soul.  In the end we managed to manoeuvre both ourselves and the bicycles (panniers and all) through the Fiestas to the ramp at the front.  Where we discovered that the cops were searching the ship for a murderer and nobody was getting off until they were finished!  (In the end we were allowed off because we were girls, but any party including a man was held on board.)  My friend had a Fiesta at the time, and she kept yelling "don't touch the cars!!!" all the time we were trying to get the bikes past.

They do look so sad and dull and lonely on the boat.  And yet every one of them has someone waiting for it, and when it's cleaned and polished and gleaming, it'll all be so different.

Rolfe.

Nope, but possibly may need to call the bank for verification of funds. My misses works in business banking but not in to ask her for sure.

The bank will speak to the salesman briefly then just ask you a few questions about your account. Normally some security stuff (not much) and maybe ask you for a couple of transactions you have done recently just to prove you're not some toe-rag that's just stolen the card.

I bought a yamaha Raptor 700 for £5600 about a month ago paid by debitcard, sick to death of waiting for a car that seemed forever away with constent in my opinion lies from the dealer about when the car was ordered.
1st u try to put the payment though the card. It'll go though print the paper off, However just b4 u think its completed it comes up with some error, And asks for Authorization.
A 12 digit number will appear on the card machine asking the operator IE in your car salesmen, to call a number to authorize the payement. This is where the fun begins!
I bank with HSBC and this number that appears in the box actually connects you with the credit card machine operators, In my case i think it was Elavon, (NOT YOUR BANK) Who in turn have to contact your bank for Authorization. The bank issue a number that you can type into the credit card machine which allow you to proceed with the payment.

However dont be fooled into thinking this is easy. The above process took me like 1hour 45min. As the original number put me though to some helpdesk in India, Where the operator on several occasions spoke VERY poor english and was inpossible to understand. I had to make the call with the quad dealer 4 times! On one occasion the operator simply hung up. It was late in the day about 4:45pm and on 2 other occasions the Elavon card operator bloke told me he simply couldn't get in touch with my bank who operate from American call centers. The whole system is beyond a joke. Im English I just want to talk to somebody who is fkin english not people 1000's of miles away.
Anyway finally when i was about to give up after driving 250miles to buy the quad. Then finally the quad dealer got though to a rep for HSBC after having the call passed from India to America. Anyway after alot of questions, Including Where the last purchase was. The date of that purchase, The amount. And finally your 6 digit Security number! Which they will ask for 3 numbers from it. IE ( the 1st 3rd and Second to last numbers) They issued the number to put into the credit card machine to allow the payment.
What a f**king blag the whole thing was. I dont envy you having to try. And ide seriously recommend not trying late in the day. esp if u bank with hsbc lol

I'm with lloyds and years back when I bought a mini from a dealer it was with a debit card but the referral call was really smooth and straight forward.

Then later I bought a beemer from an indepdent and (worringly) it didn't even get referred!

Off topic and apologies, but reading jdjd's post there got me thinking that I read somewhere recently another of the big companies is moving their call centres to India. Now I'm all for sharing wealth with the 3rd World and try and use fairly responsible companies where I can to minimise exploitation but bloody hell you wouldn't believe the trouble I had with BT when my Mum passed away not so long ago. You go through to a berievement(sp) section after calling the automated BT line and have to register stuff. Very polite and all that but neither of us could make the other understand each other properly and the bill we ended up getting was completely wrong so I phoned again and was put through to another gent in the same department who also couldn't understand what I was saying. To cut a long story short he ended up telling me to ignore the incorrect bill and again apologised for my loss. Couple of days later a letter arrived for me offering me condolances on my own death!!!! I gave up then. I know I'm a thick West Country carrot cruncher but I didn't think my accent was that bad?????

If it makes you feel any better i know that 2000 call centre jobs for b.t in india are coming back to the u.k,Back on topic, i now have my car,i used my debit card and it went straight through no problems and no security checks,(dealer did say it was the first time that had happened to him). The car is like a rocket ,i had to try it out,i`d better take it easy now untill its done the 1000km the handbook recommends for running in.No rattles, and lots of toys to play with.

Looks great mate. Enjoy it!

If you're anything like me you'll be itching to get out there and give it a proper clean and polish.

Quick tip for the alloys, get yourself some poor boys wheel sealant and put a few coats on once you've cleaned them. The just re apply every one or two months. Keeps the dirt off them and prevents the diamond cut finish from getting penetrated by the damp which causes White worm corrosion

cheers i`ll try that, wheels are quite easy to wash as they are flush unlike some other alloys with lots of nooks and crannies, car looks much better in the flesh and the sun (when it comes out ),and yes i`m dying to polish and seal it but it will have to wait for a sunny day.Just been out for a drive,i`m taking it easy for the first 1000km,i had to overtake a car,put foot down and off she goes like a rocket, its like holding onto a horse that has just bolted, great fun

You're right the shadows will be nice and easy to keep clean like my monza II's. Important to seal them to keep the moisture out though and always give them a quick dry after washing them!!

In the meantime, good luck trying to take it easy

I notice there's no shark aerial, and I saw you have DAB, so that narrows things down to either sat nav or bluetooth which gives rise to the shark fin.

Yes i`ve got dab it must use same aerial as fm,which if its anything like the touran is in one of the windows,Dab works well.
