Hi couple of questions i got this complete setup for £120.00 is thata good deal?
Ave found out that my front and rear pads on my existing arl 150 will be the right ones for these so i just need to source some front and rear discs if anyone can recommend some good and cheap wud be gratefull.
Am also thinking of getting them sprayed, ave used the search and i think am i right in saying
1) use a wire brush and brake cleaner to get rid of the paint
2) then paint usign a BRUSH?!? with hammerite few coats
3) is there anything to lacquer with????.
also once ave used the wire brush wont the surface be full of scratches do i need to sand it down , as i dont want to sand the vw audi logs off too sorry for sounding dumb,

in terms of painting is this halfords caliper paint better than using hammerite
will the caliper paint need priming??

All you need to do is use a wire brush to get rid of any loose dirt/flaky paint and then give a quick wipe with panel wipe or white spirit. There is no need to completely remove all of the paint. To paint them you just use a small brush - i recommend hammerite SMOOTH and a couple of coats.
-
yeah am just not sure whether to use hammerite smooth or the halford brake caliper paint....just read post in a another thread about one guys brakes catchign fire ona track day and he had hammerite on lol
-
Use hammerite... I painted my callipers (which are what you have bought as mine is a 180bhp) and the paint has stayed on fine, and I only gave them one coat. Just make sure you get them clean and grease free. I wouldn't even bother sanding them. Just make sure they are clean!

right cool so nail brush bit of steel wool meths or similar and then paint using a brush i was wonderign if its possible to get a smooth finish rather than a bobble effect i.e liek a porsche finish
anyoen know where to get front and rear discs from cheap?
-
Yeah mine isn't dimbled... You must use the smooth hammerite though as the other stuff will give this effect!

You're such a drama queen, Nad! :D That was me in that thread, & no, they didn't catch fire, it was a hot day at Donington, & I'm quite hard on the brakes - The Hammerite just wilted with the heat! If you don't do track days, then there's very little chance that you'll be able to generate the consistent heat required to do that.
So in short, just buy the cheapest paint!

p.s. It's not really advisable to use old pads on new discs, BTW. ;)

-
thank god for the invention of nail brushes really cuts through the brake dust....otherwise its quite a time consumign process cleanign this sh!t off
i think its goign to be hard to achieve the smooth gloss finish that comes oem especially with hammersh!te smooth.
