Much difference in tuning abilities/reliability in the engines? There isnt too much difference in the insurance prices for me, so i'm open to either one now!

You're going to get 100% of the replies all saying either:
a) 1.8T
b) neither, get a TDI
You can't really tune the V5 at all, the 1.8T is definitely the better choice.

1.8T or 130/150bhp TDI.... Wouldn't touch the V5 with a barge pole!!!
-
never driven a v5 to comment, you need to test drive both to see what you like.

If you do go for the V5, make sure it's the 170 ps version as opposed to the 150. ;)
p.s. Bob was right............................. For once! :P 1.8T FTW. 8)

pps Would the V6 4-Motion would be in your price range?? :undecided:

1.8T or TDI 150, much more tweakable if you wanted.

1.8t it is then, was thinking about a tdi, but theres just somethin that puts me off a diesel, tho If I was traveling longer distances, I'd definately get one.
