Title: hottuning coilovers mk4
Post by: ALEXS1.8T on 12 June 2009, 21:24
iam looking to get a set for my motor and i have sent my paypal address but have not heard anything .... i need these asap and have £££ waiting and need them on to get my m.o.t re-test done as i had a problem with my pas side front strut .

i have seen a set on ebay for £170 delivered there not "hottuning" but "no1tunning"  the descriptions are nearly the same was thinking of going ahead with a set of these as i can pay there and then via paypal and then i know they will be on there way to me early next week..

should i wait or go ahead with the ebay ones... has nebody got these ebay ones fron no1tunning ???

I'm in the same position.

I get home in about 2 weeks time (so I will have a drive and a garage - currently on the side of a road - EUGH!)

Will be watching this space for a reply from someone who has used them!

Good luck!

Jack

if im being honest i brought a set of hottuning ones for my mk4 and wasnt very impressed with them as they didnt fit as good as i hoped. a friend of mine is running them but had to modify a few parts to get them fitted right. i ended buying some fk's and they fit perfect with know trouble. i'd say to anyone that there better off spending abit extra and get some better coilovers but thats just my opinion bud

I read that somewhere else about the hottunning coilovers, they do say you get what you pay for, also read about fk not giving a very good ride but i think that was on a different Mk, i am personally going to get springs and adjustable shocks as i can't see the point in me getting coilovers as they will get set once and left at that.

 im gutted ..........

Fk's are quite a bit more expensive. Dont loose hope, they might fit ok. Most the mk3 boys run cheap collies and dont have any probs.

also got them fitted to mine, ride is sound and fitted perfectly apart from if you have big profile wheels like 225/40/18 and drop it to a certain amount the wheel will rub on the coilover adjuster!

I've got these on mine. only fitted them monday.see my thread in the mk4 section. Really happy with the ride to be honest. not too harsh or anything.

Had mine on the mk4 for 4 months now and had been really pleased with them for the money, pretty firm ride but thats what i wanted but as far as fitting them the garage i use had no problems at all(apart from lowering the front end too much(sorted now though))

i have them on my mk4 and find they are more comfortable than the 35mm shock and springs i had originally
i did however remove the helper springs from the front as my A8 replicas have a 38mm offset and the tyres(225/40/18) caught on the springs
took them off car drives fine
i have also removed the rear adjusters

they turned up today and i have gota say they look really good for the £££ just hope they go on easy. also do they come set at a hight or do u have to just keep adjustin them .... if you do wots the best way to get the hight rite. was hopein for about 50mm back and 40mm front ... wot are you running them on

Id set them 1/2 way down before you fit them then you can go either way to get the desired height.

I think you may struggle dropping them that much on 18's mate ? They catch or summet, and the rebound on them would be a nightmare

I would rather go 50mm front and 40mm back.

I wouldn't get hung up on measurements to be honest. Set them to what looks good.

Mine are just over half way down on mine. I'm running 215/45/17 tyres and the arch is just above the tyre. Unsure how much this is though.

Mine was this high, but i've not had the front taken up a touch as the undertray was scraping on speedbumps, scrubbing on uneven roads and parking on the curb
