Title: Members Cars
Post by: AdamB on 17 August 2004, 09:28
Hopefully this will be a difinitive guide to what the site has, out there.
For those lucky enough to run a few golfs, just vote on your favourite.
Some cars have been grouped together, or the list would be endless, but there is a split for all the major contenders here.

the mark 1 cab - the ultimate in gti cruising  8)

last time we did this the mark 2s won,  i reckon theres enough cabs about now to make them eat our dust  :P

Post by: kniterider on 17 August 2004, 11:08
i could see the 'cabs' winning this one also, but as theres 4 catagories for the mk2 its really spreading the mk2 chances as i know these a sh@t load of cabby drivers gonna hammer this poll now!!

Gaz :P

is mk5 gti even out yet?
Title: Re: Members Cars
Post by: AdamB on 17 August 2004, 11:13
It's just a way to see what derivatives we have out there. 8v and 16v owners tend to clss themselves apart, so I thought I should poll it that way.
If you want to tot up the number of each mark, then thats easy enough to do.
But I reckon you're right about the cabs doing well in it.We do seem to have had an awful lot of cab owners join over the summer.

Mk5 GTI is in there for those lucky enough to have a pre-order in. I know of someone who was thinking of putting in his order.

Very true, but what badge would you rather have on the front? or what engine would you rather have under the bonnet?
I think VW may have lost all their credibilty with this latest effort

Looks like you cant beat the original - seems the 8v in all its guises is coming up tops at the moment. 12 mk2's running them, and 9 cab's (though I am sure there is a 16v in there somewhere).
Guess it's all about the torque then :P

Title: Re: Members Cars
Post by: jazzygm on 18 August 2004, 19:46
I dont think you can say that 8v's are better because there are more of them  :P I wouldnt call a mk4 gti BETTER than a R32 because there are more of them  :-* (sides, 16V's are rarer and deserve more respect as such.... but i could be biased  ;) )

LOL, Here we go again!!  I'm certainly not saying one car is any better then the other. Every driver has his or her reasons for having their particular car.
It was a throw-away comment, and certainly not meant to belittle the valvers. All I meant was there seems to be more people out there running the torquey 8v than the revvy 16v.
Votes not over yet, anyway. Maybe the 16v will reach its peak later then the 8v, or even a sudden onslaught from the sun loving cab.

Some of you guys need to relax, and stop reading offence where there isn't any.  :P :P :P ;) ;) - lots of smiles denotes it's all humourous ;)
