Title: Wheel polishing and protection
Post by: boneybradley on 12 May 2009, 21:35
I am looking at doing a slight refurb on my wheels to get ride of some curb rash and I guess rubbing them down will remove any laquer, what i need to know is whats the best stuff to repolish them and how to protect them after relaquering them or can i leave that bit?
(I do have my machine polisher still and some autosol)

i sanded mine back the other day using ever finer grades of wet n dry, then used autosol and followed this up with belgom alu... followed with 3 coats of poorboys wheel sealant

hmmm... in which case I would be very careful using abrasive polishing processes...

well I've started and stripped 1 wheels laquer off (and smoothed a few grazes off them!)... I've given them some 1500 wet and dry using some diluted autosol (and they've come up really well) and this weekend I will polish and seal them properly
I will do a photo thread showing what I did (as long as they look fine when finished!)

You could always do the pics with the missus in there to make sure we don'f focus on the finished rims
