They look like the leather Recaros that were an option in the R32, but with a GTI logo retrimmed on.
I think you can buy them from VW but they are pricey. Someone on here bought them but I can't remember who.

They are about £1400 each.

Cheaper option is to get some recaro cs's

http://www.recaro-seats.co.uk/sport-seats/sportster-cs.php

All the recaros used in VW are based on these and just re trimmed and altered.

....

No, these Recaros were a special option only available when ordering a new Mk5 GTI or R32 and ended in 2007. They are NOT the same as the CS.

They are NOT available from VW or Recaro at this time. Leather ones were a £2,300 option IIRC.

I've just got some cloth .:R ones second hand which are about to be re-upholstered in Interlagos : -

I'd rather them in cloth.  Leather ages too quickly and you slip too much round the twistys.

....Agreed 100%. However, many people won't agree and insist on percieving leather as luxury. But then you only have to ask yourself why more hardcore bucket seats are finished in Alicantara which offers even more grip.

By the way, you can still get new covers for both Mk5 GTI and R32 special VW Recaros.

They are similar to, if not the same as, the Audi special factory option Recaros too.

:afro:

[Nice sig you got there, buddy]

There the same as the audi ones as they are recaro cs models. They use the CS as a base and work on them.

You dont slip in the leather ones, they hold you too tightly

....Only if you've got a fat arse!

My point on the CS ones though as that they are not exactly the same and without the VW spec, they will look aftermarket.

....Actually someone got cranky with me because of my regular use of ETTO, IMO, etc! I consequently decided that it was perhaps something that everyone would take for granted but it seems not. Can't please everybody!

So, my apologies - Please understand that my posted comments were/are all IMO with a dash of ETTO :afro:

Cheers!

Ha ha no you can never please everyone,  I did kindov assume that the ETTO's would stand (Each To Their Own) but newer members wouldn't know of your generally easygoing nature...

Actually I imagined something had happened to you, like that time in Neighbours when Harold had amnsesia and became an offensive party animal rather than the mild mannered shop keeper....

I have a strange imagination  :undecided:

....When it comes to Neighbours, my imagination tends to dwell more on the likes of Rebecca, or Elle, or Carmella, or....

Elle has a Mk5 GTI I notice

Gti, the dark coloured variant.

They could work. I don't think I've ever seen ones like them in a mk5 though.

That looks like Jonny Cocker's Ed30. I've got his old VW factory option Recaros.

Bear in mind that Jonny's seats don't tip, so you can't access the rear seats if you have a 3-door GTI. He doesn't have a back seat fitted anymore anyway.

....I helped Jonny fit them (the first attempt when we found he had been supplied with the wrong fixings!) and he wasn't sure about the white RECARO's either at first but in the flesh in the context of the whole white car it looks very good.

I think if his car is either white or black it would work, but Im not so sure on any other colours.

....I agree :afro: And probably works better on white than on a black car.
