Anyone done this?
if so, i understand that you take the hose from the FPR off and put a new piece in. connect a t-piece to the new hose you put on and then connect the original hose to the other another part of the t-piece. then you use the Vaccuum hose from the top of the DV and connect it to the 3rd part of the DV...(if im wrong please correct me)
but what happens to the hole where the vaccuum hose originally goes to? am i missing anything out? all the guides i've seen arent very clear on the whole process

lol i did have the n249 by-passed but i started to get a code up on vag-com boost control upper level exeeded so i reverted back to fitting the n249 :wink:

not as such i dont think its just that i got that code and thats the only change i had done the mod was done correctly in how it by-passes just strange :huh:

I finished it all today mate! I completely changed the piping to and from the N249 Valve and the N112 Valve.
The N249 is now completely removed from the vacuum system but i have left it plugged in so not to bring up a fault code. The DV i now have running off of vacuum directly from the inlet manifold and i have removed all the excess unnecessary tubbing and reservoirs.
All you need to do this mod is a couple of metres of 3mm Vacuum tubing, 1 T piece (2 if you are running a boost guage like me) some small cable ties and some spare time!

when i was taking some photos on monday with my mate some guys drove past and stopped for a chat and he was going on about this mod, but ive read that on soem engines it jsut causes problems and on others it does'nt whats the gain from doing this? :tongue:

and sorry notheast i forgot to say thats the clearest guide i've seen so far. how comes all of them aint that simple lol

I had this mod done and I got a fault code so went bk to running the n249 much better imo

lol cheers barry although with me having fitted 2 t-pieces it gave me bit of a concern over two more places where you could get a boost leak :sad: i reverted back to the standard set up i only did it initially to alleviate the common problem of the 'hesitancey' at 2-3000rpm and then it goes but tbh as soon as nick but the gen 3 map onto the car that hesitancey was gone :wink: so didn't need to do that really

lol i got an excessive boost fault :angry: so reverted to standard set up like you say some get a fault and some don't jonnys didnt iirc tho :laugh: i believe also that the vacuum unit on the cam cover has something to do with all the set up of pipes etc its linked to the asr/tc system to kick it in quicker so to speak when i removed mine the system didnt kick in so quick :grin: :wink:

Nuh thats not how i have done mine. By doing it that way the N249 is still in the vacuum loop for the DV from what i can see unless you have altered the other end of the hard pipe that your top T piece is connected to (the one where the reservoir used to be). That DV would now be operated by the FPR line but the N249 is still seeing what is going on. This could be why you had an overboosting code come up.
I dont have vag-com so i cant say if mine is bringing up faults or not but from first impressions i am impressed. When i let off the throttle i seem to have a much bigger dump of air instantly rather than a smooth dump of air. (must have been where the N249 was opening the DV)
I will take some pictures and make a quick guide on how i did it when i go outside in a bit.

Glad to help mate! the 3mm tube is a tight fit over a few bits but at least it wont come off easy.

Just blew up a coil pack though racing an M3 lol! i thought the engine had blown up at first! didnt realise a coil pack going had such an effect on the engine lol i always though it would just run a bit lumpy!

finished carrying out the n249 mod earlier just been out to try it and well happy the car feels more responsive and theres a small amount of noticeable dumping noise from the forge now when backing off and accelerating worth doing imo :smiley: :wink:
hope you get a new coilpack fitted :wink: aye does make a difference when one goes :laugh: sounds horrible to :shocked:
