Hi would any one know how much a Mk2 Golf 16Valve J plate is lowered by from factory?
Cheers guys
-
30mm mate
-
you are? then how come some people are lowering then to 40mm.. i need to get a rough idea on how much to lower mines, anyone got any ideas? or any pics to help show me?
-
optimum handling at 40mm as the wishbones are level, it also wont be a nag to use daily and have problems with speed bumps etc.
-
yea thats true say. i was thinking about 60mm at the front and 40mm at the back..thing is i want to see what it would look like..what do ya think?
-
I would go for the 40mm drop all round.
-
fair do, but why 40 all around?

To keep the car level :lipsrsealed: ?
With diff. heights front/rear, you'll encourage under/overstear.
-
i agree with that but its not like e can go street racing around where i am, otherwise ill be on roadwars in no time haha.. but apart from that reason, there isnt nothing stoping me from doin it is there?

Well, unless its your mums car and the insurance is happy about it. Then no.

Not necessarily lol, a lot more going on here than the ride height but hey. Either way, Mk2's need the back end moving as much as possible to help the front end out IMO.
60/40 drop looks fantastic but as youll see repeated on here a lot, 60mm at the front is too low and wrecks the ride and handling of the car (been there, done it, twice although the second time its on coilovers and i promptly raised it back up again). Even a 40mm drop can wreck the handling though if you dont pay for quality kit (Id advise you steer clear of FK coilovers for example, bloody terrible ride quality as the springs are far too hard and the dampers just arent matched to the car, the springs, anything lol).
