look at your paintwork in about a month's time  also the Sonus ones soak up twice as much water as the Megs one
The Megs one i found just moved the water around rather than soak it up

Ok to make you happy I've being looking at a Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel ( I can get this quite cheap at the mo! If £7 is cheap?).. so will this be recommeneded over my rubber thing? :lipsrsealed:
oh and so i don't start a new thread..If the weather is good this weekend my machine polisher will get some work with my merzerna stuff (I've had a few plays and seem to understand the workings!), although i've run out of wax to finish but might give some new polish a go? dodo juice or the new autoglym? rather than more collinite 915 (although i hear good things about R222 p21 :undecided:)

Sheet off the water first if you dont know what this is look on youtube.... that will get most of the water off. Drying with water sounds bizzar i know but it works...then trust sonus trying towel does the trick!
-
Just to give you a fairly cheap alternative, I use these towells (which are made for buffing off really), but they soak A LOT of water up and two does the entire car without the need to wring them out.
Pack of three for £9.50, and they do loads of other jobs too.

As I just put in another thread, get one of these to dry with http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/eurowxlarge-waffle-weave-microfibre-drying-towel-26-x36-.php I used a leather chamois for years, but this waffle towel is miles better.

Hi Guys, i got the Sonus Der Wunder drying towels this weekend and gave them a go, i found they werent that great at completely dying the car, When i use a Chamoix Leather i get the bits i have done bone dry, with the cloths they dried it but not fully, leaving a few water marks.
At the time i hadnt given them a wash which i now have, will this help with absorbancy or are they just a different style of drying?
Thanks,
R

i found completely the opposite tbh... my towels get the car completely bone dry... and chamois leaves water marks
wash with liquid detergent and don't use conditioner
-
I gave them a wash, no conditioner so hopefully this will help, If not i guess i'll have some expensive dish cloths!
-
Well to add to my own topic I've just bought and try'd for the first time a Flash Autowash and the autodry is brilliant and worked a treat, no streaks, no water marks
-
Ordered one of these the other night,

planning to give it a go sometime soon, I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Well I've officially given up on the Sonus Towels after using them 3 times. They just dont seem to get the car dry properly and in fact yesterday after using them i noticed they had left a whirling effect on the paintwork in the sun meaning i had to give the motor a good wax to restore the shine.
I know a lot of people use them and i cant really see how i can be doing it wrong but they just dont seem to work as well as a good Shammy for me.

try using a leaf blower, weyred looks from neighbours though.
-
A whirling? How would waxing fix this?
Drying towels get better and better as they are used. They also work better the wetter they are.
Try soaking it and then drying it out as much as possible before use, also use a detailer spray while drying.
My towel is brilliant. Are you sheeting the water off before drying? A leather chamois is useless, i dont wring out my towel once and had to al the time with a chamois! Then there were the scratches it left from being to tough!

A quick layer of Megs NXT Wax 2.0 seemed to get rid of the marking the towel left, it wasnt deep, just showed up quite badly in the sun.
Maybe i just need to try it more, i'll go for the soak + wring option before i use it next time, though i have tried this before too, I just dont find it leaves it completely dry where as my good quality shammy does.
When you say sheeting, what do you mean? I normally give it a blast with the pressure washer and push as much of the standing water as possible off with that but there is usually still some on the flat surfaces etc...

don't use the pressure washer for this - just use the hose (without any attachments) and literally let the water fall onto the car
a carefully prepared / waxed surface will 'sheet' the water away leaving either tiny droplets or next to no water on the surface meaning no unsightly marks if the water drys quickly and less need for the use of a drying towel
-
OK this is a stupid question but what is the difference between something like the Sonus and a synthetic chamois?
I've been using AG Aqua-dry for years and it seems very good.
Would something like the Sonus towels be better for my paintwork?
Bear in mind I wax after every wash anyway.

Bought the Sonus. It's very good.
