Well guys, you'll be pleased to know that I may stop bugging you as much with my pre-GTI questions. She's finally here!!
Went to pick her up this morning. the seller cleared the outstanding finance via bank transfer in front of me in his office. He then rang them to confirm, and they faxed across a letter stating they no longer have any interest in the car. I then got a full invoice etc from him, and passed the cheque across.......with a
That turned into a  during the drive home though!!
Ive been in a Fiesta Zetec S so the GTI will take some getting used to - not just the power, but the bigger size. Tried the kickdown and almost snapped my neck - wasnt expecting it to be so fast!
Its tucked away in my garage at the moment, until the seller gives me the second ordered key, and I get them reprogrammed (seller is covering the bill).
Anyways, heres what I got....
Grey, 5 Door, GTI ED30 DSG
Rear Tints
MFSW
Highline
Centre arm rest
Parrot Bluetooth professionally installed
(http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t149/iftibashir/DSC00218.jpg)
Thats the only pic I have so far - quickly took it before tucking her away. Will get more pics up over the weekend if you want ;)
Dont know anything about it yet - dont even know how to turn the headlights on, or open the fuel cap (I guess that'll be opening quite often in future!! ;) )
Time to skim through the manuals......
-
niceeee...
enjoy!
-
Looks gorgeous! My 55 plate Gti I am waiting to pick up is the exact same colour...
I think knowing very little about the car is great, you have a lot of fun learning ahead of you :D
-
Nice!! :smug:
when I first picked my new motor up I was more nervous than excited as its the most expensive item I've ever owned! (plus the parents still don't know how much I payed for it :lipsrsealed: :lipsrsealed: :lipsrsealed:)
-
Yup, I cant tell my parents how much either - even though Im 28!! lol
Im gonna say it was £14k ;)
Im still very nervous with it, since I dont know how to use most of the stuff in it properly yet - the wife said I look nervous or uncomfortable while driving it!!
For me its a matter of getting used to driving a bigger car.....
That low metal rail thing behind the car...........cant even see it from inside while reversing! Think I'll need some rear parking sensors - may help when I back her into the garage as well ;) How much are they fully fitted (colour coded ones)?
-
Look very cool!!! great spec, colour i would have gone for and 5drs too
We want more pics!!!
-
congrates ifti on gettin the car after all the problems glad you got the one you wanted. any probs you no where i am !!!
-
Looks great. I reckon Grey is the best colour (even though I've got black!).
Would be interested to see the Parrot install - probably gonna get one myself. Where do you have it installed?
-
Well Done mate :)
Looks nice - lots of loo reading
Dan :)
-
At long last Ifti & looks a good 'un, well done mate.
Had the wifes ED30 6 weeks now & nabbed the keys for a blast over the weekend & its one hell of a car, you'll lov it.
Top colour as well. I am very pleased I ended up with S/Grey
Here's a pick of the dealer fit sensors done a couple of weeks ago.
Enjoy it mate
-
Cheers everyone ;)
Will get some more pics, including those of the parrot install the next time I take it out the garage.
Still driving my old car at the mo - just had it washed etc so listing it up for sale very soon - need the cash!!
Hey pitch - how much was the rear sensor install in total?
-
£239.00 supplied & fitted Ifti.
I also had them add cruise which was £160.00, which I have on the A4 & missed whenever I jumped in the ED30.
Other than those bits I have added Ed30 badge to front grill, SS footrest & seat inserts, oh my build plaque to centre console.
A bluefin is niggling me but just need to figure how to get it on to her car without her noticing. Having said that the standard poke is more than sufficient.
You will have a lot of fun mate, trust me.
-
Im leaving it standard for now, its more then enough for me and I dont want to do anything that may affect warranty etc, since its under warrenty until August 2011.
May have the sensors fit actually, then keep saving for the RNS510, or a similar unit....
Need to get my plaque as well - would probably put it where you have yours TBH.
Which details do I need to have handy for when I ring VW?
I believe I need to ring 08000833914??
I then need to keep away from this forum for a while - otherwise you guys are gonna make me wanna keep spending on it when I need to save a bit of money back first!! lol
-
Looks fantastic ! Your going to love it :D
-
Only concerns I have are with servicing costs - especially at year 4, but hey ho, guess that comes with owning a great car ;)
-
Wooohoooooo!!
About time too I should say
Now then, about the remap, coilovers, brake upgrades etc that you'll no doubt be having very soon
Hahaa, only kidding.
Enjoy it Ifti, the ED30 is a great car
-
Looking sweet - nice colour

TBH there is more than enough poke on stream to play with for starters.
Pot luck I think mate on the plaque front, mine came 7 days after my second phone call.
Again though Ifti, really pleased to hear you are sorted.

Well guys, you'll be pleased to know that I may stop bugging you as much with my pre-GTI questions.
About bl00dy time too!
Just kidding... I remember when I got my first Mk5 GTI in 2006 - it was my first new car and I couldn't stop looking at it - even through the curtains :embarassed:
Now for the 4 year service... I have some tips that might save you money and improve the drive.
1. If you get a Quaife LSD fitted, then you'll automatically have a DSG service done as its part of the install process.
2. If you get uprated brakes, then you should get a free brake fluid service done inclusive.
3. If you get a APR High Pressure Fuel Pump done, then ask for the fuel filter to be done for free at the same time.
4. Save fuel by getting a remap from Revo - my car did 35mpg when I drove back from Portsmouth to Birmingham after Stage 1 and 36mpg after Stage 2! The trick is that you can go easy on the throttle and stay in a higher gear
I'm sure the Mk5 Moderator Hurdy would also agree with the above
Oh, there are a few more 'bits and bobs' that you might as well do if you go for the above... but I'll let Hurdy elaborate
Finally, appearing at VW shows like GTI International is now mandatory.

You can see through your curtains? Wish I could see through my neighbours she is fiiiine!
Anyway back on topic, enjoy the car mate...its as if im waiting to get a new car and drive it all over again!!
6 Weeks today and I can drive again
On the plaque side of things surely you will be in the same batch as me, not sure when this 'batch' is going out.
-
Top car Ifti, and in THE best colour!
Enjoy matey!
-
Well done mate, looks good  .More pics please ?.

You can see through your curtains? Wish I could see through my neighbours she is fiiiine!
Oooops.. I meant nets :embarassed:

ditto! had her washed yesterday.. does look good in the sun
Get her out today and thrash her a$$ ifti!! Its mandatory
-
Hang on - a remap actually reduces fuel consumption?????
How does that work?!
lol
I could just tell the wife Im making changes to get better fuel consumption............hmmmm.................lol
I use the car to get to work and back during the week, which is mostly motorway/dual carriageway, and the traffic is steady moving, so would probably stick to 'D' mode and drive sensibly to give me the best MPG I can get - that gives me more fuel in the tank for the weekend thrashing ;)
Also, could someone give me a quick list of all the top up fluids I should have in my garage?
-
People say it does as you have more power / torque you don't have to put you foot down as much when driving normally. Me personally have seen no difference in MPG with a remap and think its all a bit of a myth tbh.

Its not a myth as it was my direct experience and the experience of others who have remapped their cars - especially diesels. Granted it isn't everybody's experience, but if you aren't aggressive and drive carefully, I have found that I used a bit less fuel - maybe 2mpg but it was noticeable... BTW, the comments were also made tounge-in-cheek
-
You make a valid point.
I just cant seem to get an better, although I find it neigh on impossible to drive anywhere without having the odd bit of fun lol :(
-
Oh I wish for the days where the MPG column was the last one you'd even consider looking! In fact the lower it was, the better!
-
Forgot to mention - is the 1 litre oil top up bottle in the boot - in the little holder area on the right? If so, mines missing - seller must have used it already. Should have checked before I bought I guess :(
However, good news is................at least I got the bottle opener!!!!!!! lol ;)

Is it anything special? Wack a pic over Ifti please.

Just clocked the location.....that says it all.
Not as bright as ya north suffolk cousins in Lowestoft
-
The 'extra' bottle of LongLife Oil was an extra provided by some dealers to owners of new cars.. I've had 5 new Mk5 GTIs/R32s from 3 dealers and never had a bottle. I wouldn't expect one on a used car.

congrats pal!! hope you enjoy it, i know youve been looking/waiting for some time :afro:

We will be always grateful for that, that would have been a bad day :smug:
The only thing Norfolk has going for it is the greatest footie team in East Anglia's

-
wow - the petrol indicator goes down quick!! lol
I may need to top up oil soon, I have some Castrol Magnatec 5w30 in my garage - is that safe to use??
I know I should get Castrol Edge - but just wondering if I can top up a little with the Magnatec for today?

Heres one of the bottle opener as you requested pitch ;)

Congrats on the purchase! You made a very good choice. I came from a smaller car too but the first time i drove the car back from the dealership it felt like I had been driving if for ages. It's surprisingly very easy to get used to, as it will happily drive in docile mode as it would at defcon 5  Its quite funny actually - drive the smaller car around a bend quickly and there's so much going on (body roll, engine revs, stuff flying everywhere (including yourself), tyres screaching). Drive this car around the same bend at the same speed and everything is calm, peaceful and collected.
-
Get it remapped asap.
Or you'll be in for a shock when you try to overtake a mapped normal GTI.
-
:drool:niiiiiiice!!
love that steering wheel!!........ oh got one too lol.
have fun mate

Sorry but i'm a slightly confused. This car (same pictures as posted earlier) is still shown 'For Sale' on Pistonheads. When I went to send the seller an email the sellers details came up as a Mr Ifti B****. Not sure whats going on here?
-
:undecided:
Maybe he's trying to make a quick profit? Who knows? Lovely motor though, would lurve an ed30 but just aint got the budget atm...
-
not read the whole thread, but awesome car

Thanks for the pic, that's where I was thinking of putting it. My only concern is that some pikey scum can then quite easily see it when they look through the window, and break in to nick it. Is it pretty visible from outside?
-
I have the same Parrott kit in my A4 & I hid it in the ashtray. Shut the lid & its gone.....
Having one fitted in the missus's ED30 & hopefully the chaps can loose it under the ashtray lid.

rofl.
Im strange like that ;)
Nah, I stuck the car up on Pistonheads since I wanted to see if I paid the right price for it, by seeing what others would offer me (considering it was a free ad as well!) - and yeh, I have had an offer above what I paid - so I could of made a small profit ;) lol
I also considered selling the ED30 and going for a R32 instead....
But Ive just got back from a long comfortable drive, and Im sticking with my ED30!! ;)
-
Needless to say im suitably jealous... lol, im so tempted to wait a year and get an ed30...

TBH when you close the door you really need to pear inside and look down to see it - not really easily visible....

Top stuff, thanks!
-
Finally picked up my spare key today!
Got her booked in on Tuesday to have the keys recoded, which the seller is paying for ;)
Apparently it took a while to get here as since its a pretty new car the key had to come from Germany.
-
So how has the car been, been a while now since you got it. Has it been all you wanted or had any major issues. I have 4 gti's over the yrs but switched (not telling you what too) when the kids arrived.
There a bit bigger now and can climb in and out themselves so thinking of getting another but the wife wants me to get Zafira VXR so we have more room.
