Are they pilot sports or pilot exaltos?
-
or dunlops, or continentals....... 4 different brands , depends on your luck
-
or even Bridgestones...
-
Mine came with Bridgey's, just stuck a couple of Falken 452's on, which came highly recomended (and cheap £139.00 the pair), & they are quieter & as sticky as hell.
Very happy with them.
Let the tyre bashing commence..............................

If you have Michelin, then they'ill be Exaltos and a very good tyre they are too...

Thanks, are they a better tyre than the pilot sports?

Consensus is that Pilot Sports are better than Exaltos.

That's what I thought - I has PS2's on my RS4 and they were great in all weathers.
-
I got exaltos on mine - nothing to write home about.

Any one tried the Vredestein Ultra Sessanta ? sad BUT they have a  tread pattern & look good value for money .
-
What size are the tyres on the ED30??
Anyone tried checking prices on etyres.co.uk?
They come out and fit the new tyre and balance etc wherever you are - and for my current car they are the cheapest around......

Good man  I have them aswell and they are fantastic. Is that a fitted price? Where did you get them? Seems I was raped on the price (£101 a corner fitted by a mobile tyre fitter)

Would have thought they were the same as the GTI:

Have no idea where you are based, but KB Tyres (on a10, hertfordshire) are same price for falkens as camskill, but fitted, and there are three places in Biggleswade (28 miles from me) I used to travel to as they are far far cheaper than anywhere within a large radius.

Yep for the pair.
Local independent in North Suffolk.
I know the bridgeys were a tad worn, but the 452's have transformed the car

Lesson learnt regarding where to buy em
Regardless of cost they are an awesome tyre, but for the price they are simply outstanding.
The acid test will be for someone who has the assyms to try them as a comparison.

Of course not

I live in Essex - near Harlow - where can I get these Falkens from??
If they do a good job, they seem good for the price!
EDIT: Sorry just read above - KBTyres off of the A10 are only 16 miles from me, so should be cool ;)

Sorry mate - didnt realise they deliver and I can have them fitted closeby!
The only part I was worried about when buying a GTI was the cost of tyres, since Ive seen prices around £200 for some tyres!! Way too much for me!
I may go for these Falkens when I need to if they come well recommended!

i've fitted them to my MKIV and over the last 1000miles have been fairly impressed - their wet weather capability has been excellent and in the dry they seem as equally capable as my previous Goodyear GSD3's
definietely worth a punt for the money :afro:

Try these boys for good prices........ www.mytyres.co.uk & have a look at the Falken ZIEX ZE-912 .Less than a £100.00 a corner. .

I fitted two Falken FK452's to the rear of my ED30 last weekend, they are just coming up to being worn-in. Ordered them from Camskill and they came next day.
The FK452's come highly rated as a performance, value for money tyre by literally loads of other car forums.
In my oppinion, pay as little as you can for your chosen tyres. That allows you to spend a little more on making sure you wheels arent damaged when fitted. I'm always careful of "fully fitted" prices as sometimes its just because the place couldnt give a monkeys and turns jobs round in 10 mins.
I paid £30 to get my two tyres fitted, they took over an hour to do the job and kept the wheels spotless.
This is especially important with the GTi wheels. Being 225/40/18, they are pretty low-profile.
-
What do you think of the tyres on your ED30 though??
Are they as good performance as stated?

The Falken FK452's?
Its a little too early to give an oppinion on how they are performing on my ED30. They are still wearing in, but they are getting better with every drive. Such as life with new tyres, you are a fool to be asking them to perform until they're worn in.
Even if they are mediocre tyres, christ they only cost me £63.00 a corner!

I managed to grab the keys again this mmorning & the grip (dry then wet in Lowestoft today) is very very good.
I have ran conti's, GY asseys & Kumhos on the A4, & these babies surpass all of them.
