excellent so does the 3mm lip make all the difference?

it makes more noise thats about it to be honest

as pointed out by Dai though the reason the airboxes aren't smoothed are to collect all the debris that makes it as far as the airbox.  The lips are there to stop the debris going into the filter

So in other words it will do more harm than good ? ? ?

oh right i opened mine today and i looked at it and i thought wot the f**ks the point of clipping them off???? its gonna make no difference at all?????. but the debris what happenes if it goes in the engine coz the box was cluttered with dried bits of leaves and little bits, can they not go any further on from the box or do they go in the engine?

its quite possible  :undecided: though i've done over 10K since and not had any problems..........

the bits don't go any further as thats what the filter is there for - what does seem to happen is the filter clogs up more quickly as there's nothing stopping the majority of the debris getting to the filter

I have "Smoothed" my air box and put a piperX filter in, i every few weeks, take it out, give it a good bang and remove any dirt or dust from it. this keeps it clean.

Ive not had a problem with mine either
