Has anyone heard the noise back to back? Is the Dbilas quietier? I have an EVOM's which does increase power but sometimes the dump valve noises get tiring.
-
Is yours an atmospheric dump valve, or a closed circuit recirculating valve?
The latter is much better, both for power and turbo life!

How can you tell TT? I have an EVOMS and am worried by what you've said

The valve is OEM just an EVOM's intake.

Ahh right... I was wondering because the original post only mentioned intakes, but TT is talking about dump valves and I was wondering if there was something that I was not aware of

Sorry was meant to say the EVOMS makes the dump valve noises and i was just wondering is the Dbilas a quieter intake as it takes air from the front of the car.

Ahh... I thought he meant that the EVOMS makes the dump valve noises... because you get a whoosh and air sucking noise with the EVOMS intake - although thankfully not so people outside can hear
-
....
A wee bit of air intake noise is enjoyable but the EVOMS I once heard on an Octavia sounded like a bucket of gravel
-
I had both the Dbilas item and VF Engineering one on my car (very similar to the EVOMS: apprarently the EVOMs is supposed to be louder). ANyway the VF item you could here loads of sucking noises in the car and a metallic fluting noise when lifting off. With the Dbilas all you get is an induction noise barely a little louder than standard, the same performance and no sucking noises

Yes, I was purely asking about the dump valve, not the intake system in general.

Still can't work out what you are saying!
So, are you stating 'my intake system is making noises which sound like a dump valve' ? ??
OR
'My actual dump valve is more noisy, and I was wondering if my intake system was causing this' ? ??
And you still havent answered my earlier question - have you changed your standard DV to an aftermarket one which vents excess boost pressure to the atmosphere? Or do you still have the standard OEM recirculating cut off valve (where the excess boost pressure is simply recirculated in the intake tract, by diverting it back to the low pressure side of the turbo). ? ??

Sorry should have been clearer. I still have the OEM recirculating valve (g). But the EVOM's cos it's a cone filter makes sounds as if you have one that dumps the air into the atmosphere which sounds a little chav and can get on my nerves. I was just wondering if the Dbilas would be quieter because it's not a cone type and if the flow would be as good as an EVOM's.

An induction sounding like a dump valve... :undecided:

Yep they go pshhhssst when you change gear at wot :undecided:

Yup.. but can't really hear it on the outside so its not too chavvy  Also, I understood you right from the start Micky as I have an EVOMS on my Edition 30.

Wheres the cheapest place to get an EVOMS intake system?
I have found Regal @ £295.00 which is pretty steep for two bits of pipe and a cone air-filter (which is probably sh*te as well).

Depends if the golf runs on a MAF (mass air-flow) or MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. I believe it would be a MAF though.
Power gains? Be surpised if you would see any solid differences between the two setups. HOWEVER, recirculating dump valves with MAF sensors (which I presume the golf is running) tend to return considerably better fuel consumptions.
A 100% atmopsheric dump valve also gives rather lumpy gear changes and I wouldnt think the DSG setup would enjoy this.

Exactly as pazz says :afro:
Why ruin a finely tuned system just to hear psssssshhh?

Hi Guys,
I run a dibilas intake with forge recirculating valve and it makes a lot of noise on hard acceleration and also on lift off. Like a scream. I am thinking of changing to something quieter to be honest.

If you change the forge valve for the latest revision G VAG item that scream / screech noise goes away. I found this out by accident when I changed the forge item for a standard item.

....Reading that^ is enough to make me want a Dbilas! I've already got the Forge DV.
-
Its not as bad as described and only occasional when accelerating hard. Believe me its a lot quieter than the EVOMS and I am quite fussy about being subtle.
-
As mentioned before, wheres the cheapest/best place to get an EVOMS intake system?
-
JKM do it for £310 inc VAT. For the cost and hassle of fitting it (you loose the engine cover unless you chop it) you might be better of getting a Carbonio intake. That is unless you dont mind spending more and fitting it.
-
I dont think the fitting will be rocket science. I'm never minded getting my hands dirty in the past.
-
I've just read on VWVortex that the EVOM uses plastic pipework? I think for £250+ I could make a better intake kit myself.

Funny you should say that. As it happened the other way around for me. Went from my standard 'c' DV to the Forge DV and the harmonic noise went away

Yep had mine done a couple of months back. No dumping sounds anymore, actually sounded really nice before, its certainly a noise i miss. I went from C to G revision
