just spoke to the garage doing my service, picked up on a few things some i already know abotu mainly the cambelt and the rear washer. They are changing the brake fluid for me but they did mention that the front roll bar bushes are knocking and also the rear axel bushes as well
these will obviously need to be changed any suggestions i have read soem people got for tt bushes or leon cupra ones ?

TT bushes are for the wishbones
anit-roll bar bushes are different altogether - think i was charged about an hour's labour plus parts to get mine changed
Rear bushes can be upgraded for the Leon Cupra's

ahhh ok, so rear ones go for the cupra bushes and just OEM roll bar ones ya :smiley: ill get my mate to do the work as it will save me piss loads in labour :wink:

yep or you can go poly bushes on the anti-roll bar - up to you mate :smiley:

the Cupra ones are really expensive, over £100 :undecided:

how about powerflex bushes any one used these ?

Stink - have you noticed any change in the way the car drives going round corners with the front anti roll bar bushes knocking? Think i have a similar problem on mine but unsure it its these that have gone.

thats for the FRONT anti-roll bar
Golfs don't really have what you call a proper rear anti-roll bar - its just a flimsy piece of metal stuck to the rear beam!

Rich had them. He said they were rubbish, he had to get them changed, too harsh or something.

what mileage is on your car mate?? 45K or so?? i'd be playing holy hell with VW as surely thats well short of fair wear and tear! have you got FSH??

well the car has just gone over 43k its got a fsh all but one yr which was the first yr I had it and my mate mehanic mate did the service for me as i was skinted!
the only thing i can think of is I had a bump about 2 and half yrs ago, went in the back of someone at a RAB that could have caused soem dmg?? but there was no visible damage after it and has past all teh MOT's etc

Check your front wishbone bushes aswell. Mine were completly chuffed when i changed the whole arm last week but sailed through MOT's no prob's. Doing this has now sorted out my front end loads.
Also the steering rack can be tightened which most people aren't aware of. There is a nut under a cover which can be tightened. I had a sheet printed out off ukmkivs.net (think it was of ELSA?) but can't find it or the link now to where it is! Even VW didn't know it existed, they only knew of it on the mk3!
Have you looked at the track rods? I know most people changed the whole rod complete with new end as the rod itself (other end to track rod) is a common point to wear too!

well this is it, my mate had it up on his ramp checked the wishbones the lot and couldnt find anythign wrong, same as the garage today had it up on the ramp and checked everythign to do with the steering, my may tom dis say abot a bolt/nut that can come loose but he checked that and it was fine :(

Everything went on mine at the same time. Bushes and the ARB :(

Mine should be going in next week to have a new steering rack fitted, got it checked today and its fooked :angry:

Good price that IIRC mine was 150 + surcharge.

Just had new wishbones and bushes and the drop links replaced on mine on Wednesday. Made mine 100 times better. Its really tightened the handling up. Another quirk it fixed was that my steering wheel was off centre ie to go straight it looked like i had the steering wheel to go round a left hand bend. After having the work done its all straight as a die. Well pleased. In total its cost me £150 inc parts and labour.
