Title: My New Black Badge Look (Updated 1/3/09)
Post by: northeast_gti-t on 27 February 2009, 23:31
Well as you know im going to be painting a sharan rear badge and front vw badge this weekend/week   well my 'bluevision bulbs' havent arrived so hoping they will be here tomorrow   so called into dealers after work and halfrauds to
the list :
Mattblack paint
600 grit wet&dry
1200 grit wet&dry

1J0853601A041 x1 badge
7M3653630AFDY x1 badge
LLS0M6A7W x2 paint/laquer

well as suspected the front black vw badge is the later type and the dealer tells me that the older 30mm thicker type vw is no longer available   so the choice is you have to use a later type grille to   so thats my choice and as luck would have it they had 1 in stock   (first time i haven't had to order anything  ) so an additional part then 1J0853653CGRU

well decided after covering where im spraying that i may as well make a start tonight
so onto some pics  :

hello sam i wanted to order the earlier chrome(thicker)badge so could spray that while leaving original on and have a spare after but according to vw when i recieved my badge it was the later (thinner)5mm one which according to them requires a new grille   the badge for the front was satin black tbh looked shi** so prepped that and yep its going to be mattblack and the sharan rear badge is going to be mattblack to but colour coded inner

Ah cool that makes sense

How much was the sharan badge from the stealers mate, last one i saw on ebay was £20!

I've still got the old skool rear badge on the back but i'm not in any great rush to get rid at the moment, other things to be done!

Look forward to see the results, to be honest i'm not usually a fan of black badges, lke the chrome myself, but this sounds interesting so will wait to see the end result before passing an opinion
