Interesting...
-
sooo erm i filled out the form (thanks bacilus for the link )
how much is the stage 1 revo remap? 20% seems really appealing
-
so stage 1 will now cost £399 + vat? About £456 a saving of circa £120?
-
Revo dont do offers too often, if your thinking about it now the time!
-
Wonder if bluefin will follow suit..... In the words of harry hill.....which one is best revo or bluefin? Let's see shall we?.......,, FIGHT!!!
-
Nice link Steve,
How much extra for insurance do you reckon on ED30... £100? Plus I’d consider the basic REVO switch as well.
Cheers... Hotrod

it states .... "Only preregistered participants qualify for the 20% discount at the nominated Revo Technik Dealer. 20% discount is only applicable to full Revo Technik Performance Software it excludes stage upgrades and updates of existing software*. "
Now in November I had a trial, I also purchased the revo but didnt want it for a variety of complicated reasons at that time....wonder if that excludes me. I will already have their sw on board, albeit in a switched off state.....hmmmm.....think i will contact REVO.
-
if you already have it.. all you need is someone with an SPS switch to turn from stock to performance mode
unless your ecu was flashed to stock, in which case you're not an existing customer and you can sign up for the discount.
-
so whats the switch for ?
-
Turn the map on/off or the plus one you can alter timing and boost depending on weather and fuel used. At the price they are offering now I would get one and sell on even if you didnt want it. I paid £250 for mine!
-
I notice some sps switches on the bay...is it worth me getting one and trying it? I guess they would have removed the sw totally that would make sense rather than leaving it on and messing up the settings.
Nah, it goes to vw for a reflash thats it...minds made up.....he he ...err it is an attractive deal though...

....JKM are a good tuning agent to use - Very knowledgeable about everything 2.0T FSI and very caring and very good aftersales customer care. Very honest too.

....I've recently decided to move to Greenlight after years with DirectLine. I wasn't dissatisfied with DL but GL understand mods (they don't include factory options like sunroofs as premium extras, for example). IF your profile qualifies for GL, they are much cheaper as well as being mod friendly.
HTH :afro:

thanks, ill check them up at renewall time
-
If my warranty was out I'd be going for this....but I said I'd wait until it's ended before I do any kind of mod. Shame

pah, warranty! You'll be ok, they just wont cover you for the turbo etc. Rest of the car is ok which is what likely to go wrong anyway.

Hi Robin,
Many thanks for the invite. I would come, but Tim @ Envy Valeting is giving my car a full detail (inside & out) all day on the 7th. FYI... Two buddies at work went down to a Briskoda dyno day at JKM just a couple of weeks ago and had a blast, both their vRS’ made more power than stock, so they were chuffed. They also met vRStu while they were there...
A question to you remapped manual ED30 boyz. There is a thread knocking about about potential slipping clutches on cars with REVO stage 1 & Bluefins. I won’t be drag racing or going on track days... should I be concerned. I don’t need the hassle of clutch replacement on a 1-yr old car. Also considering the Powerflex Torque Arm Insert... seems it tames the wheel hop (tramp), is this true?
I value your thoughts... Hotrod

....I can't advise about remapped Ed30's. But they have exactly the same gearboxes and clutches as the GTI's as far as I know.
All the Torque Arm insert will do is better protect your exhaust mounts and slightly reduce wheel hop but not cure it totally - You need more extensive mods like coilover suspension, Whiteline Anti-lift kit and Quaife ATB diff to cure it more completely. At least this has been my experience and none more so than today when checking if my car has Launch Control - It doesn't! But there wasn't a trace of judder or hop in the attempt as would be expected with an unmodified FWD car.

Hotrod;
we've actually got a cupra K1 running stage2+ and we've not had any issues with clutch slip and that's running an honest 355 (no intake atm so a little down on power) and that car is a daily driver and has been getting a fair amount of use from us in the office :)
you'd be surprised how much difference a torque are insert makes the the way the car feels so go for it!
-
Carl do you have any dyno graphs for the 2+ software?

....I'm not so convinced: I've read an equal number of posts on various forums which say the difference is minimal to that it makes a big difference. I think placebo plays a part. It's defo worth doing imo but I personally wouldn't expect huge changes. It most definitely helps reduce but not 100% cure IMO. But my failing KoniFSD's may have been a factor.
Definitely go for it - Every little bit helps. Milltek give them out free with their exhausts btw. Makes an expensive torque arm insert!
I think I'm right in saying that most of the Ed30's with clutch issues have been hammered up the quarter-mile a few times.
:afro:
-
Torque arm inserts - big improvement on a manual, not so much on DSG (since the gearbox mount doesn't get loaded/unloaded in the same fashion as a manual transmission)
Any increase in torque is going to kill your clutch quicker, a fact that anyone with/considering a remap just has to accept. Your driving style will play the biggest part in the life expectancy of your clutch.
-
^^^^
Good point, topher - I'd forgotten about the DSG/Manual differences (what do you expect from someone eligible for a free bus pass!).
Something I like about the DSG is that I believe it's more protective of the clutches.
:afro:
-
I put one in my LCR and it made a massive difference, not so much in the DSG but thats because it doenst jolt as much when changing ;)
-
Carl do you have any dyno graphs for the 2+ software?
I'm sure toby wont mind me posting his dyno plot..... it's an S3 but you get the idea ;)

cheers guys... very helpful!
-
re my posts ages back about the "noises", i think they may be caused by the torque arm insert. however i dont really have the tools to take it out and test with original! :(
-
Just booked my car in to AMDTechnik in essex, free before and after!! may also get a forge spacer, not decided, but i still love the sound... may just keep it on for a while.. :-|

Good man. You have been umming and arring far too long about this
