Title: What options for replacement gear knobs?
Post by: saalro on 20 February 2009, 20:40
What options are there for replacing the gear knob in a GTI. I know there is the R Line, R32, Bora and Lupo GTI knobs but can you use others that aren't VW?

Also i like the look of the R Line and the Lupo GTI but was wondering can i just use the gear knob and not the gaiter? I would like to use my gaitor as it has no surrond at the bottom!? Can the surrond be removed from the R line/Lupo?

Pictures of yours?

Thanks.

Is the R Line a direct fit? Can the silver/brushed base ring be removed? The base ring might look weird with all black interior!?

Can the gator be removed from the the Lupo knob?

R-line for the win. Just get some Audi TT pedals to complement the base.

I think with Anni/R32 trim that would be

I've got black trim though, so i'm trying to have as little silver/brush as i can, i don't want to make it look odd, that's why i'm wondering about this base ring!

I noticed as well yesterday the door handles (Ones you use to open the door.) are crome which looks rubbish, can these be changed?

I have all black inside and not hesitating when buying the R line knob as it'll go with my audi tt pedals. It's bloody expensive though :|

The door handles can be changed for brush aluminum.

Almost forgot!!! :D

Have I fitted the surround correctly, though?  I did take it as you were supposed to use your old surround, as the Lupo surround seemed a completely different shape?? :undecided:

cheers mate :afro: had the idea when i decided to change the front "gti" grille badge its just the 25th anni badge that i used just stuck/spaced the letters back on to the backing after removing the foam/adhesive and apllied with a dab of superglue to the letters and put it on didnt want to just throw em away so thought that would be a subtle mod oh and the ashtray lid does slide back to acess the cig light/12v socket to
