Thanks jv!
I bought my 2001 Jazz Blue 1.8T GTI Last August, i wanted a 3 door low milage car so had to look around for a while but eventually found this one.
This is what it first looked like! (minus the front GTI grille badge that i put on the day i got the car!)

When i got the car it had done 50,000 miles so was just coming up for its first Cambelt and water pump change. I decided to get this done at AMD Technik in Lakeside as i had heard nothing but good things about them, i also got them to give the car a full service and throw on my Induction kit that i had bought from ebay and a Forge 007p Diverter Valve.

Next up i needed to get myself a tow bar so i could pull my track bike about! I didnt want one that was on show when i wasnt using it so i opted for the westfalia detachable tow bar. This is 100% invisible when removed from the car even the electrics plug swings up to behind the bumper so you would never know its there!

-
After that i didnt really spend any money on the car for a while because i wasnt sure if i was going to keep it for that long or not.
Then i decided i was going to keep it so the mods started rolling in!
I always liked the BBS Montreal ll alloys on Golf's so i got myself a very good set with good tyres from Ben on this forum at a good price so cheers Ben!
Also in this picture you can see the Hofele front bumper grille inserts that i put on and the retro fit euro style front wipers.

I then wanted to make the car more fun to drive so i went to AMD and bought AP coilovers, KW front and rear ARBS, Forge TIP, Miltek Cat Back with 4-mo vallence, Powerflex Dog Bone mount bushes, Powerflex rear axel bushes (sorry i didnt take any pictures of the car when it was on the montreal alloys with the coilovers)
Then i decided to get some bigger alloys as i wanted to have wider tires for the handling. Saw these on ebay for a bargain so bought them, will be getting descent tyres for them soon. Sorry about the pootang pics i took them on my phone. need to take the car for a good photo sesh soon lol

The Next step for the performance mods had to be a Remap so i booked the car in for a mobile map by R-Tech
The map was done a couple of weeks ago now by Nick and i cant believe how happy i am with it! I would reccomend these guys to anybody! When i first got the car i had a Revo Demo put on the car and thought that was good at the time but it has nothing compared to the R-Tech map. The car just keeps pulling all the way through to the higher rev limit that Nick set for me, compared to the Revo map that gave me a massive amount of boost on take off and then not much change while already rolling at speed
Now that the car was boosting more i wanted to show this off! So bought a Newsouth Indigo Boost Gauge from Regal Autosport and a VDO A-pillar pod from Awsome GTI. These two items make having a boost gauge look very standard because the Pod's colour is a very good match to the standard interior and the Gauge is a good match to the standard dials when lit up of a night.
I have a pic of the Gauge lit up but havent taken one in the daytime yet as i havent ventured to the car since it snowed on monday! lol

Yesterday i ordered a Forge front mount intercooler with the adition of all the extra pipes needed to relocate my diverter valve to the front of the engine so as soon as it comes through the door i will get some pics!
Also have got some Audi TT pedals, Stainless steel GTI dead pedal and some stainless steel door sills to go in aswel, will do them at the weekend.
-
The Forge Front Mount and DV relocation kit still hasnt come so no pics of that yet
But i managed to fit the TT pedals and GTI dead pedal set at the weekend, and also removed the black standard door sill sticker ready for when i fit my new GTI sills to match the dead pedal. In the picture ignore the elastic bands around the accelerator pedal i just was using them to hold the pedal while the glue went hard. I had to glue the accelerator pedal as it didnt fit.
Also heres a pic of my black FK angel eyes and black front grille i have recently fitted. I have 10,000k HID's in the Projector headlights.

Heres a picture of the brakes i am getting too.
-
what brakes are they mate and where you getting them? cant wait ill i have enough for a FMIC
Alright mate they are calipers from a LCR. I have bought them from a guy who is an expert on VAG brakes, he had a mk4 which he built this kit for but then sold it to buy a mk5 so these brakes were no good to him anymore. Because they were for his own car there has been no expense spared on the quality of the bits that he used to build the kit. This is what he said about them in hes advert.
I have finally got around to selling my LCR Brembo brake setup, this was originally planned to go onto my Mk4 which I sold for a Mk5 so I just cant justify keeping hold of it any more. As you can see fom the pics, this isn't a garage sprayed covered in brake dust ebay special, this is for all intents and purposes a new setup, the calipers have been stripped, powder coated, laquered, resealed, new bleed nipples, covers. The bores have been inhiibited with VAG lithium grease so if you dont get around to fitting them until show season then no problem
Also new are the Pads, Discs (Cadmium plated anti rust EBC Dimpled and Grooved), Brand new in their bags OEM SEAT hoses, Brand new Seat 323 Disc shields
The Boxed OEM carriers have been powder coated in Hi Gloss Black
The Pad fitting kit has been sent off and electro nickel plated for longevity as have the hose mount brackets and hose spring clips that are now attached to the carriers with a M6 plated cap bolt as opposed to the rusty item Seat dispatch.
The original 8.2 class SEAT caliper mounting bolts have been replaced for Fabory 12.9 class high tensile bolts, imported from Germany especially.
As many of you may or may not have read, I'm into VAG brakes in a fairly big way. These were planned to go onto my own car and as such became a bit of a side project for me, it is for all intents and purposes its a brand new kit, it would suit somebody into the show scene or into detailing their car.
Its totally complete, nothing missing, all you need to go from 288's to Absolute OEM LCR brakes in a box.

He's too busy fitting it all before Brands Hatch meet tonight ;)
Too right i was! I managed to fit the intercooler thisafternoon and also the rear wiper.
All in all the intercooler took me about 2.5 hours to fit. A large chunk of this was spent cutting the standard bumper about which i still need to do properly as at the moment the cuts arent too neat. Heres some pics

Got home today and the Brembo's have come! They are so big lol they weigh an absolute ton!
Also ordered my new wheels today, A miltek downpipe & sports cat and also few more Forge bits for the engine bay.
-
My new wheels came on Friday so i thought i would trial fit the Brembo's and the new wheels.
When i bought the Brembo's i was expecting to have to use something like a 5mm spacer to make them fit but no, with my new wheels i would need something like a 16mm spacer to make them fit.
I have been advised that this is not a particuarly good idea for a few reasons, along with also working out too expensive and making my tyres rub on my arches!
So i have come to the hard decision of selling the Brembo's on as i dont want to get another set of wheels
This is what they looked like when i was balancing the wheel in between my feet lol

I had my Miltek Downpipe and Sports cat fitted this week and i would say it is a mod i would reccomend to anyone! The car pulls so much more all the way through the rev range! I also fitted a few other bits like the Forge Carbon engine cover and a silicone coupler hose on my induction kit.
I will add pictures of these hopefully very soon. I went to a meet thismorning at AMD and there were a few people that had decent DSLR's so got a few pics taken so hopefully i will be sent a few later
At the RR Day at AMD today i put my car on the rollers and it made 252BHP and 290 IL/FT Torque. I was very happy with the results even though on the rollers it wasnt boosting right due to something about the load being different to how it is on the road or something lol. I was only beaten by a supercharged R32 lol
-
Couple of pictures, of the car and also my RR printout from AMD at the weekend

On friday i fitted a Momo Race steering wheel. I dont particularly like the centre of the Race wheel so i ordered the centre ring and horn button from a Momo Jet steering wheel to use instead because hopefully i will have a few more carbon bits inside the car prety soon starting with a Momo F16 Carbon gear knob that i am waiting to arrive!
Heres a pic of it fitted.
And also today i bought some R32 front brakes and ECS uprated drilled and grooved discs. So hopefully i will be able to get them early this week and fit them as soon as pos because my standard brakes are shot lol
Have also been looking endlessly on the net about Turbo upgrades.. Not sure what one i need to go for, i want a bigger turbo that will bolt straight on my AUM without changing my miltek turbo back and the manifold. I have been told you can get a kO4 Hybrid that will bolt straight on in the same way my KO3S does meaning i wont have to change anything exhaust wise. But i dont really know where to look for clear cut info on this. So feel free to PM me anyone who can help!!!
-
Havent really done anything to the performance of the car worth shouting about. Have changed my under bonnet fuel lines for braided lines so it looks smarter and am i the process of chaning as many standard hoses i can to silicone ones. Also removed my N249 valve. And will next be fitting a catch tank. Still havent fitted my R32 front brakes as i am going to get them fully refurbished before i fit them, hopefully i will have them sent off and back to me within a couple of weeks.
Now i have decided i want to concentrate on the look of the car for a while now before i fork out for a turbo upgrade so this started with the back of the car.
Bought myself some Hella black colour magic rear lights, a sharan badge that i split and painted and also got rid of the standard Golf and GTI badges on the rear. Also in my garage i have an R32 Spoiler waiting to be painted and fitted (could be a while its been there for months lol) and also i managed to pick up a super rare Oettinger Rear V6 valance for really really cheap considering they usually sell for well over 400 Euros. Also fitted some VW rear mud guards but im not sure if i actually like them so they might be coming off and on ebay lol
Have also ordered some black crystal side repeaters to go with my black headlights and black rear lights so hopefully they will be here soon. Also fitted my Momo F16 gearknob but havent got any pics of that yet because i am waiting to carbonize my dash!!
Hopefully i will be ordering a R32 ABS rep bumper next month as long as i get a good pay rise! and some R32 sideskirts then i will get everything painted and fitted together.
Also over the weekend i played about with my coilovers and got the ride height exactly how i want it.
Heres a few pics. Car looks abit of a wishy washy colour in the pics because the sun was so bright!
And also a pic on the end of the Oettinger valance i have.

Have now decided to sell the oettinger rear valance! so PM me if interested! It is painted black at the moment and also comes with a standard bumper also in black.
Have recently put on black side repeaters to match my front and rear lights, will get pictures when i remember!
And also these arrived thismorning so will be fitting them soon!

Cheers Mate, yea it is getting there!
Right well over the weekend i started to fit my new coolant hose set.
Went quite well really, a few of the hoses are a bit awkward to do but i managed it lol.
When i started to change the hoses i realised that my coolant expansion tank was very dis-coloured so obviously we couldnt be having that! so down to VW to grab one, along with some coolant and a new dip stick guide!
Once i had got home and finished of fitting everything i started looking for other bits and bobs i could do.
Firstly i started off with removing my SAI pump and all associated rubbish, then i went on ebay and found a nice catch tank (which i have just won!) And also ordered a new air filter.
At the moment the car is still on the drive semi in pieces with no coolant in it, i am going to get a Forge SAI blocking plug tommorow and then i will have to wait for a few bits to come from ebay and then i can finish it all!
Also tidied up some wires in the engine bay for my HID's and Alarm.
Here's some pics of the work so far!
And also a pic of my new side repeaters!

Fair enough well if i was you i would cut the ebay special metal tube down and just have the filter sitting by the battery

i did think of that...you got any tools?

Well havent really been on the net much lately because i have been so busy at work! And also havent done much to the car worth shouting about!
After fitting all of my coolant hoses and removing my entire Secondary air intake system the car was jerking on acceleration and hesitating alot more while boosting. So the following weekend i drained all the coolant out again and bolted all the Secondary air intake bits back on.
Because i was running this again i needed to keep my N249 valve plate at the front of the engine so decided to spray the small engine cover a perlescent black, looks prety good! Aldo i decided to remove the under bonnet sound deadening / heat shield thingy. Will get an up to date picture of my engine bay later on today after i have washed the car.
I also have a custom catch tank from a sierra rally car sitting in my room that i need to get round to making a bracket for and fitting.
Also I have sprayed my front badge so i think it matches the rear one alot better now
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i201/bavanuity/Mybadge.jpg)
I recieved an email this week saying that my new brakes are ready to be sent back to me aswel so should be getting them soon.
-
Have done a fair few bits and bobs to the car over the last couple of weeks so going to be updating this over the next couple of days!
My new front brakes are on, i fitted them myself and bled them with the EZbleed system from halfords and i have to say it has done a rubbish job! Pedal is spongy and horrible! I am still waiting on my new rear brakes to come so i can fit them and then take the car to somewhere local and get them all bled properly!
The front brakes are Standard Mk4 R32 Calipers that have been fully Refurbished and rebuilt with new parts and finished in powdercoated Red. I am using standard Genuine VW pads. The lines i am using are 200 Spec Goodridge Braided Hoses. I have also had a Tyrolsport caliper stiffening kit fitted to the calipers (http://www.tyrolsport.com/index.php?p=product&id=125&parent=64).
The discs are two piece ECS Tuning Discs that have been stripped down, the small bolts have been nickel plated and the edge of the discs have been painted black so they are easier to clean and wont rust up.
Here's a pic without the wheel on. Will get a picture with the wheel on when the car is cleaner!
-
Just took a quick picture with the brakes behind a nice dirty wheel!
I also got some Bora Sport clocks fitted a couple of weeks ago. They have lit needles and miles to empty enabled.
Also i fitted OEM cruise control.
And am at the moment in the process of re doing my dash with Fablon.

Am going to R-tech on friday to get my map upgraded to stage 2 and also take into account a few new mods so cant wait for that!
Also have sitting here waiting to be fitted a set of 034 Motorsports Track density motor mounts so they will be shaking my teeth out when i fit them! They are roughly 90% stiffer than stock lol
-
Havent fitted the engine mounts yet, So nothing to report on that!
Have now been running with my new map for a while and the car does feel a hell of a lot stronger so thats all good!
The other night i was out for a spirited drive and completely cooked my clutch at a set of traffic lights (AlanD style at Santa Pod! last year lol) So speant the last week or so trying to source all the parts i needed to replace the clutch and flywheel. I can easily get hold of all the usual pieces people use for very cheap but i wanted a lightened flywheel as opposed to a standard G60 flywheel. So after weighing up all my options i had to go for the ECS stage 1 clutch kit from Awesome as if i had bought just the Flywheel direct from the US i would have had to pay silly money on the import duties and UPS fee's. So it was a bit more than i wanted to spend on the Kit but hopefully the way the flywheel feels should put a smile back on my face! I am having the kit fitted by a local gearbox specialist that i got pally with a few years ago when i had my first car, after countless visits to him :lipsrsealed:
Also this week i recieved my long awaited rear brake upgrade, so i fitted them the day after. I am taking the car to Ad Autotechnik tommorow to get them all bled after hearing how good they are from Barry.
The Brakes are R32 Rear Calipers that have been fully stripped down, re built and then powder coated red. The discs are 284mm MG disks that have been drilled and modified to fit. Also i have had them drilled and grooved in the same way to match my ECS fronts, along with the outsides and middle of the disc painted black again to match my fronts. Am using a set of DaveB spacers on the caliper carriers to allow for the massive discs. Also using a nice new set of EBC redstuff pads.
Heres a few pics from when i was fitting them!

your splash guard looks a bit neater than mine! lol...
Maybe i wont invite you to do half hearted jobs on my car no more lol
looking sweeeeet matey, did you get them bled or is it booked in?

Lol sorry mate! I had my Tin Snips back when i did mine so managed to cut them!
And about the bleeding it is a very very long story but doesnt look like its happening now untill next week sometime, along with the clutch!
-
Oh ok, Well i'll probably talk to you over the weekend so let me know what the problem is...
-
Well i havent had a chance to get the brakes done because when i connected the lines up to them the night i was planning on taking the car to get them bled one of the calipers had a problem with a seal so i had to remove it and send it back, hopefully it should all be sorted prety soon!
Obviously because of this problem i wasnt able to take the car to get the clutch fitted either so had to cancel that
Now the car is just sitting on the drive with its back wheels off on axel stands! And im afraid thats how its going to stay untill the brakes are sorted because i cant be bothered putting all the standard rears back on!
So hopefully it will all be sorted and have the new clutch in by the R-Tech Rolling road day otherwise il be coming in someone elses car!
While the car is not moving it will give me an excuse to spend a bit of time on the interior and engine bay that i have been wanting to do for a while!
First thing will be to fit a brand new Rocker cover that i have had powder coated bright red and to give the bay a general clean up!
After this i am going to be spraying all of my interior trim and also taking out the rear seats and spare wheel for good.
Here's a pic of my lovely new rocker cover! Was a bargain £38 off ebay and cost me £35 to get poder coated. Sorry about the crappy quality of the pics have just taken them on my camera phone.

Quick update!
Car is still on axel stands on the drive so clutch hasnt yet been fitted or brakes finished / bled yet :cry:Just waiting on recieving my previously dodgey caliper back then i can sort it all!
On the up side i have just bought a set of bucket seats that are sitting here waiting to be fitted, have ordered the sub frames and harnesses from demon tweeks so should hopefully see them put in before the R-Tech rolling road day in January
Also bought a R8 Oil cap to go on when i change the rocker cover! (hopefully tommorow if i can bring myself to scrape the snow off the bonnet)
-
Well after going round Tim's yesterday and giving him a hand i thought i would get my ass in gear and actually do something to my car as i havent even touched it since it went up on axel stands waiting for the rear caliper to come back to me! I put on my nice new rocker cover! And also in the pics below you can see my catch can install
Also: The caliper should be back with me on Tuesday fingers crossed so i can fit it, get the brakes bled and get the clutch fitted all before the R-Tech rolling road day. My harnesses have come from Demon Tweeks but am still waiting on the Cobra Subframes as they were shut all over Christmas so fingers crossed i will have fitted them by next weekend aswel.
Sorry for the crappy quality pics only had my phone outside.

Well today i had a nice successful day for a change even with the crappy weather!
I went to A D Autotechnik to get my ECS Clutch & Lightweight flywheel and my 034 Motorsports TRACKDENSITY engine mounts (over 90% stiffer than stock lol) fitted, along with getting my finally finished brake upgrade bled!
The flywheel makes a fair bit of noise on idle due to being alot lighter than the stock dual mass flywheel and its also alot lighter than the g60 flywheels a lot of people use. The noise doesnt bother me in the slightest due to the nature of the car! The clutch pedal feels so much lighter now aswel with a really nice bighting point so am over the moon even though i havent really had a chance to test it yet due to the car prety much permanently being in limp mode :lipsrsealed:
Now on to the engine mounts lol. Well lets just say you can tell that they are over 90% stiffer than stock! The whole car shakes all the time and also the engine noise is transfered into the cabin alot louder. Again this doesnt really bother me but i wouldnt really reccomend them to anyone with any fillings!
And now that the brakes are all bled i am over the moon with my choice of R32 calipers as they feel very impressive so far, shame i couldnt keep my brembos but dont regret getting these one bit.
After today i really cant reccomend A D Autotechnik enough! They really are top fellas and i will not be taking my car anywhere else for any work to be done (except obviously R-Tech lol)
Needless to say after spending a day in the workshop asking questions and looking at there many engines that were sitting on stands i now have a prety good idea what route im going to go down with the car power wise. So am on the look out for a cheap AGU lump that i can put on a stand and build up in my garage

Well i am now the proud owner of 2.5 1.8T engines!
I have my AUM in the car an AGU in the garage and a BAM head on its way to me monday!
I currently am stripping the agu engine down to rebuild so i can safely run a big turbo kit when funds allow! The engine is at the moment on a engine stand in the garage in need of a good clean! Tommorow hopefully i will be removing the old sump and removing all the oil and shoot that is all over the engine!
I am sourcing parts for the rebuild over the next couple of months hoping to save money on parts as and when they come up for sale, already have picked up a good amount of bits for some good prices!
P.S. Seat subframes came on Thursday finally so will be fitting my seats tommorow morning weather permitting!
