hi all,
well basically i don't actually own a golf YET! but i am looking into it  at the moment im liking the mk3's but i love the rest equally.
reason im looking at a mk3 is.... it's more within my price range if i choose to sell my car i have now. but before i decide to sell mine i wannid to find out a little bit more on golf's. so im looking forward to getting to know most of you and lerning abit off you all.
my 1st question is........
i know it's silly of me to ask on a golf forum but im hoping you will all answer truthfully :smug: am i doing the rong thing getting rid of my saxo vtr for a mk3 golf gti? i know i know it's a saxo lol but to me it's not just a saxo it's my 1st car and was compleatly standar when i had it. i've made it my own and kept it in show room condition almost and it still run's brilliantly  but i am getting a lil board and have always loved the dub seen.
any way's pic's of my car so you can give me your honest answers to wether you think i should join you guy's or stick with what i know lol
all comments good or bad welcome. im up for a lil banter lol.
my sh!troen saxo vtr....

mk1's are great but i would like a car lil bit bigger pluss they hold there price, mk2's are lovely but all done loads of milles then mk'3s are great looking and a reasonable price. idealy id like a mk4/5 but can't aford that at this stage of me life lol
-
welcome  there is still some decent low mileage mk2's about but unfortunatly the prices have started goin up too :undecided: nothing wrong with the mk3 though. if the saxo was a vts id have said keep it because it would be quicker but not bad lookin even for a saxo lol

Wow, a French car that has been modded tastefully, make that exhaust half inch smaller and I don't mind it.
Sorry, for some reason, I just hate French cars. Don't know why, just do.
Saw somebody roll one today, somebody pulled out on some woman, and this guy in this Clio swerved to avoid her (wasn't going that fast) hit a bank and then her Ford and rolled it.
Felt sorry for the guy, not the car!
Anyway, welcome to the site mate! Get a tug-boat MK3, I love mine, even if it has no seats! LOL!

A vts so the web tells me is 120 bhp so only a little more than a mk3 8v whats 115bhp and 30bhp less than the mk3 16v at 150bhp

I've just got a MK3 8v - used to have a phase 1 VTR (written off by a coach) and do have access to a phase 2 VTS as well (fun!). Once I actually get to drive the golf (MOT today), I might be able to comment on the differences.... I think on paper the 8v cars match up pretty well on performance - the saxo is quite a bit lighter.

I had a mk2 gti with 190k on the clock, still goign strong which i sold a year or so ago. i now have a vtr which I cant stand! Its just not as well built! Get yourself into a mk2/mk3 mate. Im lookin out for another mk2 at the moment lol

And get a Golf of ANY sort :)

Welcome mate I had a Saxo VTS on an 02 plate brought it from new and was about 190bhp with NOS when I finished was quick but I would never buy another french car again the build quality is crap. So now I hate all things french including the people
-
Not a fan of Saxos but you'll be doing alot of good buy selling it for a MK3 :) Welcome to our forum buddy. (Sorry, I meant JVs forum that we use ;) )
-
Hi Mate, do you go on Modified Bristol??
I had a Saxo VTR before my MKiv Turbo, best change i made!! how big is your budget?
and welcome
-
welcome
-
Wow. How many Saxo/Golf converts do we have on here?!
Welcome.
It's a good move. If you're going for a Mk3, make sure it's the 16v. You could probably even find an early Mk4 if you can stretch the budget to £3-4k.
-
