Not sure if it's the right section, but I wanted to share my excitement! Well, nervous and excited..
I've always bought cars with MOT's or they've been new to not need them. When I was a lot younger, I'd literally take it in, and if it failed, pay out for what it needed.
I was offered a car at work though, the 1.8T I have now, knowing it needed work. I've built up some skills, so tackled it. It's had a new rack arm/end, wishbones, inner CV boot, tyre, tracking, windscreen and is now ready for a test (current one runs out Sun). The only things I can think it'll fail on are reg plates being a bit sh!te, not being able to adjust mirrors (new switch on route - cheers dai) and a leaky PAS hose (PAS works fine, just needs topping up).
If it passes and needs no work (other than the above and it has a free retest) it's remap time, then saving for ani rims and weeks of polishing/waxing to get it as mint as I can

good luck mate :afro:
it will be even sweeter if it passes knowing that your own handy work is good enough
-
As long as you have a mirror on the drivers side that should be ok. The power stearing leak might not pass though. All depends on the MOT center.
-
I'll have the parts to remedy soom and with a bit of luck they'll fit  Getting it MOT'd now anyway, so if there is anything else I can get on it.
lol - I didn't say it's not until 4.30pm 2mor either
-
will fail an MOT for any leak on the P.A.S system no MOT centre will let that go through, hope this one fits for you
-
If they notice it's leaking that is  It's not visibly coming out, just some residue on the pipe, which in this weather I might be lucky to get away with. It's getting replaced either way though, I don't like things to be neglected at all. I'm mostly hoping there is nothing I'm not aware of!
Mirror switch fits and works btw
-
just to let you know that your pipe is being sent out today via CityLink :afro:
-
Legends, the pair of you  Where did you get the thumbsup smiley?
-
:afro: the speical place
-
G'Luck mate.

:afro: the speical place
God dammit - you too.
Hang on.. :afro:

While we're on the PAS pipes side of things, how do you bleed air out?
A bit of searching said to just top it up then full lock either side, then top up. Anything more to it?

Woo hoo!! It passed!  Only advisory was the front brake bias being out about 25% (the limit).
Next plan is to spend a little time with the missus, then give r-tech a call, then spend a long time cleaning it (and somewhere in there will be some anni wheels). Then I'll be glad to put some proper pics up :afro:

Cheers bud, having a beer now to celebrate. £1300 it's set me back now including purchase, and it was the easiest car I've worked on to date!

How about sorting out the brakes, then re-mapping it?
-
lol - they'll be done, as will the PAS pipe, replacing the front bumper, and finding a new cup holder, but hardly as exciting as a remap
-
good news it passed, :afro: pipe is on it's way so that should be with your post room tomorrow there going to start hating you  glad the switch is oh,
ref :bleeding yes you just put it lock to lock but it needs to be up on stands you will get a grinding noise thats the air, dont force it if you get the grinding before full lock go back the other way and just keep doing it till it's all quiet and no air, keep an eye on the level in the reservoir and bleed it with reservoir lid off.

Nice one - thanks mate x2
