The gloss black effect is beautiful...
I fitted 4 new tires, Viking ProTec 2s plus 4 new VW center caps
My xmas present to myself
-
Very nice, black looks awesome
-
^^^^
Stunning!! They really suit the car - The black inserts do make the wheel appear larger and IN MY OPINION there's only one wheel a Mk5 GTI should have and that's Monza's.
Where did you get them?
EDIT: Having said that, I can see from Komenda's sig pic that his wheels probably suit his bodywork mods better than a Monza would.
-
looks good
-
Thanks
They do make them look larger as the polished effect against the black makes them stand out more
i got them from ebay for £375 best offer, in my opinion an absolute bargain as they are refurbished to a very high standard
now i just gota find some alloy cleaner that wont mess the polished effect and will protect them through the winter, any ideas???

i'd get some Poorboys wheel sealant on them - give it a couple of coats - then use your normal car wash shampoo to wash off the dirt
the wheel sealant will stop the dirt sticking to the wheels so a quick wipe with your wash mitt should remove the dirt very easily

Nice wheels Laser :afro:

Nice wheels laser!!!, those centre caps need pushing in!!, they are stuck out??
-
very nice.

Looks

Car looks fantastic! Love the Monza 2's!! Big improvement over the BBS, IMO they were very MK4 if you know what i mean?!(not that it's bad to be MK4)
ps. is it just me or do they look like replicas? maybe its just the centre caps not in right!
-
i think they are reps too but they look very
-
They look lush
-
They are genuine monzas.. They have all the markings on the insides
i cant push the center caps in any further?
-
They look really good. I've been told the Mk6 GTI will have the same black inserts on the Monzas. I just hope they've sorted the white worm problem.
-
They look very nice. The Monzas were black on the W12 Concept as well.

^ Indeed they were! Mighty fine too!! ^

the look lovely mate
but please don't get too upset about them being reps
the eagle eyed will notice 2 or 3 things that are different from originals
the one thing that's definately different is the thickness of the rim on the inner bits
-
I recon they are genuine. According to the label on the box in the pic, they are 18x7.5". All the reps I've found are 18x8".
-
well if they are genuine you have a very genuine bargain mate...they cost more for one than you paid for four (from vw) ! can you pm me the seller details? i would like to get away from these r32 things....

im going to vw tomorrow to double check this.. they do have the bbs marking inside plus they are 7.5 not 8j. however now you mentioned the rim thickness its best i get them checked.. if they are fake im going straight back to the seller with a spade.
anyone have a close up photo of there monza?
-
just take one off and look at what it says inside
-
ive had replicas before they were 8j and didnt have any lip at all plus was very heavy..
these are 7.5j they do have the J"W BBS kinda symbol inside plus ET and something like rd or rod then a long number, BUT ive justed checked the black nut caps that go over the bolts and they dont fit ??
-
The offset is the giveaway. Originals are 51. Nowt wrong with reps though, they look good and if you look after them will last.
-
Looking good, still undecided what to do with my Monza's but this is looking like a good route - great bargain you got by the sounds of it.
-
Well i went to VW today they removed the wheel and said its not a genuine vw rim but it does have all the other markings same as that of an original vw monza rim but dose not actualy say vw germany just germany.
He said they are a very good copy and they could have been made by another alloy wheel company in germany, he lifted both the rims up and they are near enough the same weight.
I told him how much i paid he said you may aswell keep them because all other replica monzas are 8j and weigh more and are made outside of germany.
They are nice and i think i will keep them as they are 7.5j plus weigh the same as an original.
-
It wont say VW anywhere on them apart from your centre cap :P Genuine MonzaII's (for example) just have BBS and a few other numbers stamped on the inside (because BBS make them, VW just put their centre caps on them)
Dumbass dealers
-
Mate, they look effing great, just enjoy them
-
im removing them again next week to fit some new locking nuts so ill take a proper photo of the insides and you guys who know your stuff about origina monzas can find any differences..
the genuine 18" monza alloy we compared it with at vw did have vw germany and bbs logo on them, from an 08 plate gti
-
Looks like A1 have done a great job there
Do they retain the spiral line CD effect on the diamond cut surface ? ... hard to see except on close up inspection
Genuine Monzas will have markings similar to these on the inside :
