CHHERS mate super qwick me

3 doors FTW!
-
Both are cool.. 5 door being more practical :)
-
3 door .... just looks sooooo right
-
3DR. I have one myself, but I'm thinking I'll go for a 5 door next time. They are way more practical, easier to put stuff in the back seat etc..
I had to do a lot of driving last week with 3 people in the car and getting them in and out was a bloody nightmare, plus nobody can seem to figure out how the folding seats work!
They do look better though. :undecided:
-
3 drs look better but five doors more practical.
At the mo have 5 drs because of future prospects but if I ever get rich enough, I'd buy a GTI in 3dr and mod the hell out of it.
-
3 door looks better i suppose but it doesn't look that noticeably better to overcome the annoyance of getting things in and out the back of the 3dr

As above 3 for looks but 5 for being more practical.
-
If I wanted a Family Wagon I'd buy a Passat!
-
I like to give my mates a lift so 5 door FTW!

3 Doors do have 5 seats still!
-
tis true, but a real ball ache to get big fat mates out. I have big fat mates. They are not allowed to eat in the car though. Or smoke. Or drink. I have made cards similar to those you find on aeroplanes with instructions, dead funny.

3 door.
No brainer.

Ditto - I give friends and family lifts, so it makes things easier in this respect.

Hahahahaha I say something similar - no food/drink/smoke/drugs in the car. I went ballistic when a mate left an empty beer bottle in the car. And that was a six-year old mk4 fezza at the time!

LoL ... and then after buying your Passat, you'd quickly change back to a 5dr Gti ... just like Phil Mcavity
-

....If I wanted a 2-door sports car I'd buy a previously used Porsche or the new Audi TT-RS when it comes out.
Offering the GTI as a 5-door is what makes it such a good allrounder. But it's great that we all have the option of both 3 or 5 door. I actually prefer the 5-door for looks. A highly modified Scirocco might be a better 2-door option for the platform. But ETTO.
-
I've voted 5 dr...purely because of the added practicality. The front doors are shorter and lighter than the ones in the 3 door and this means you can actually reach the B pillar and the seatbelts without contorting yourself silly.
-
Gotta be 5 doors, for me it just looks more finished, not sure why tbh, either way great mota.

Ah yes, as a 3 door owner I quickly learned to use my other arm for the "awkward seatbelt reach Manoeuvre"
I went for the 3 door because at the time the 5 door had only just been relaeased and TG magazine said in their review the VW designers were less satisfied with the look of the 5 door, mind you they also said avoid the 18" wheels as it spoils the ride.
-
3 door for dubbas, 5 door for muthas!

I have a tinsy weeny garage and the shorter front door means I have a better chance of being able to squeeze out of the car once parked. Must lose some weight in the new year...

3 door for me, is that cuz i have one???
5 door more practical, i hate the effort involved getting people in and out the back, but 3dr looks better in my opinion.

i had one, got bored rather quickly.

always had 3 doors but i think it looks good with 5 doors, if i needed 5 doors then i wouldnt hesitate in buying one, both good

You're absolutely right, Carl - Both are excellent and you sometimes have to look twice to tell if 3 or 5. The 3-door is more popular and is percieved as sportier and I came from a 2-door BMW and I was going to order the 3-door GTI until my teenage daughter suggested otherwise and reminded me of my need to transport she and her jailbait mates friends occasionally.

^^^^^^id have a 20 door golf if i was picking them up Phew!

Believe me you wouldn't!!
I got my first speeding ticket ever - 93 in a 70 on sunny dry unbusy clear dual carriageway A-road, but encouraged by 3 teenage girlies in the car - Just speed and nothing dangerous or reckless - I just got unlucky but it reminded me not to be encouraged.
In the summer I drove my daughter and her best mate up to a gig in London. On the way, we encountered a very nice Mk5 R32 and for about 20 miles drove in fast company as and when conditions allowed. It was all as it should be - No racing but leaving each other space and letting each other overtake but still having some spirited driving. My daughter's friend sounded like she was wetting herself with glee! After our cars parted company with thumbs-ups, I had to make a point of lecturing her how important it was to know what you were doing and not race other cars and stay well away from being with drivers who ignored safety.

5 door for me. I actually think it looks nicer.

....There don't seem to be enough TSNers interested in a SW meet. I regularly go to the meets at Portchester and near Brighton. Mk5GolfGTI.co.uk have some big GTI meets with lots of guys who also frequent here.

No question for me.....................5 DOOR! Both for looks and practicality.

-
3 Door for me if it's a GTI, for some reason i prefer the R32 in a 5 door, just looks better imo
