My MK4 GTI 1.8T
« on: 06 April 2013, 19:49 »
Hi chaps thought id start a little thred for my GTI seeing i have a number of plans for it.

When i got the car it was a little worse for wear tbh and it needed some tlc.

To date iv had to fix a number of problems first being the reverse lights where not working this was broken wire to the reverse light switch so that was fixed.

Next the gear stick was very stiff so worked some white grease in to all the workings in the engine bay and under the gear gaiter and after some working it freed up and is now centering perfectly.

New bulbs fitted in the dash and heater dials, New air filter as old one was nackerd. Oil and filter change to full synthetic oil, Starter motor removed cleaned new grease applyed to sort the screeming at start up, Refit badly fitted stanless exhaust.

New maf sensor to get the engine and traction light off my dash as it had a cheap nasty one fitted by last owner!

Also want to change the water pump cam belt and tensioner's asap.

Any way here are some pic's of her after a fresh coat of polish:

First mod's will be coilovers and when money allows some new wheels.

Any iders on wheels would be cool id dont want to do BBS'S was thinking BMW/MERC OR Porsche ?

Im open to all input.

Thanks Si.

Little update:

Iv got the car booked in to have cambelt and water pump changed just to be on the safe side.

Iv dewiperd the rear and also debadged it imo give a much cleaner look.

Also what can be done with the exhaust it just looks crap and has been fitted badly is there any way i can move it up and change the rear splitter to one with a cut out?

Becouse once i get the coilovers fitted its going to be scraping on the floor.

Glad you've said the exhaust needs fixing because at the moment its really letting the car down

You want a 4Motion rear valance like mine:
