Bluetooth disconnecting
« on: 22 February 2024, 07:16 »
Hi all,

I think I’m fighting a losing battle but it’s worth asking the question.

Headunit: RNS510 (fully up to date)
Phone: iPhone 15 Pro (latest iOS)

So, the phone connects to the car just fine and I can stream music and make calls, however, it’ll randomly disconnect. It could take 5 minutes, it could take 30, but it’ll disconnect and then require me to reconnect it.

I’ve tried resetting the BT module, I’ve deleted the car from the phone and the phone from the car a few times yet the problem persists.

I’m not sure what else to try now and the internet hasn’t been too helpful on this occasion.

Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance.

That seems to hit the nail on the head, thank you for sharing. As frustrating as it is, I’m happy that it seems to be the phone and not the headunit. I’ll just have to see what changes come from future iOS updates.

Out of interest, what version of GTI do you have? Next phone I get will be a 15.

It’s a Mk6 from 2011. It must be the latest iOS that’s done it.

If I’m streaming music it seems to stay connected, but if not, it’ll disconnect after no fixed duration.

I’m going to try the iOS beta 17.4 to see if that changes anything.

I’m too deep in the the Apple ecosystem to change though. If it becomes a real issue I’ll just get an Eonon headunit and join the modern age
