I'll try if I can get my hands on some OEM ones. My car doesn't have them.

A great write up Jimp, and handy that you mirrored this how to over on vortex for when this site goes down! 

The smaller ones are called peanuts and the longer ones are called tubes.

Is that your 'non-technical' description, 'cause I've never heard them called that!   

As Neo correctly pointed out, your 'tubes' are actually called 'festoon' bulbs, and your 'peanuts' (have you been muching on Noddy Holders Nuts    ) are simply called 'capless' bulbs.  Check out this thread for some more bulb names: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=95565

Haha yeah they're not technical terms at all  I jsut went by what the back of the box called them
