haha, yes, it is now deleted and it's strange it last so long. Because there was an obvious embargo until 4:30 pm CET today.

Looks really good, thanks for posting the link.  Love all the external black gloss.

I really like it. The gloss black treatment lifts things a lot, it should have been done like this on the MK8 too imo. The headlights while only subtley different, do look better imo, that awkward curve as it meets the grill has been straightened out! The bumper, intakes etc all look suitably more aggressive too.

I’m surprised the door stripe remains the same half assed effort though!

Then in the interior, it’s the same new infotainment that’s in the new Tiguan, ID4, Passat. And having experienced it for about a month now in my wife’s ID4 I can confirm it’s a joy to use compared to the MK8 system.

The standard GTI is up on the Irish configurator. Few things to note:

- rear camera is standard.
- winter pack (heated front seats etc) is standard.
- the illuminated grill, VW badge, IQ lights etc are standard.

Then there is this “black pack”. There was a black pack on the MK8 too but it was pretty minimal. Black mirror caps and red stripe replaced with black. I think it was about €450. On the 8.5 it also includes darker headlamp housings. You can see it in those videos linked above. But it’s down as €1600 on the configurator here! Bit mad. Surely it must include something more than darker headlamp units and mirror caps… I wonder does it include a black roof (again as per those videos).

Black Pack has a descent look with new GTI. They show all the demo cars with a black pack for a reason  because the headlights look so much better being darkened. Adding black mirrors as well.

It's got god awful wheels and looks odd from some of the front and front/side pictures. GTi badges look cheap and I know it's because of the plug in door but the ones on the door look ridiculous. Step back with the radar being in the grill too.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

I like most of the updates and options although the wheels as me Maddy says do nothing for me. Looks like trying to give mk6 wheels an update. The size of the infotainment screen seems overkill as well. You buy that size screen in Curry's.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

The upgrades are all welcome BUT it isn't really very different to the Mk8 Clubsport.

It's definitely a 0.5 upgrade and I'm disappointed overall.

I won't be paying to upgrade and will be looking at other marques when I replace my Mk8 Clubby.
