Rory, can the Cup 2’s handle sudden downpours? How quick do they warm up in road use?

For a GTD I’d recommend Pilot Sport 4 (or the successor PS5) or 4S. Superb allrounders and the 4 (5?) likely to be slightly more comfy. I’m talking general all purpose road use here, not trying to shave hundredths of a second off in controlled conditions.
I’ve had PS4S’s on two Clubsports now. I was so impressed with them on my Ed40 that I immediately fitted them to my mk8 CS. In the interim I had a TCR with Pirellis (meh tyres) and a BMW 1er with Bridgestones (made of stone too I think).
Absolutely no hesitation in recommending PS4 or PS5 (tyres not gaming consoles) for their slightly toned down therefore likely better all rounder design brief if ride comfort was high on the agenda.

Fair questions, and just realised this is for a GTD.

Rain, when its wet I'm not going to drive like I stole it or may not be driving at all!

Ref the temps, hard question, obviously being a track biased tyre they will take longer to get to ideal temp and stay there.

So, maybe the PS4 or PS4S maybe the best option  :) I have tried the PS4S, they are also very good tyres!

There's nothing particularly unique about the finish on an Adelaide. Any decent alloy repairer should have a good match for the gloss black so it really depends on how damaged the rim is and the extent of physical repair needed prior to powdercoating, re-machining the face and lacquering.

^This.

@STUART31; kerbing an alloy is never a good feeling. As @Tallpaul has said, it shouldn’t be an issue for any good, reputable alloy wheel refurb company to repair the wheel so it’s indistinguishable from the other three, assuming it’s not damaged beyond repair.

Hopefully you won’t suffer any further kerbing or other alloy wheel damage in future. If you do, bear in mind with diamond cut alloys that there’s a limit to the number of times they can be refurbished - usually no more than twice. Because re-machining the face involves cutting away a layer of alloy, any more than two refurbs and the structural integrity of the wheel can be compromised.

Kenis, I’m fairly certain he said he paid £33.5k for his CS. But in that time new and used prices have gone silly.
He paid about the same for his as I did mine but his has silver paint as a cost option.
He went for minimal deposit and big monthlies, I went the other way round.

The R is always going to be much much quicker off the line, agreed. A “better” car in many ways.
Maybe I’m just well used to my CS but the throttle application in the one you tried doesn’t sound quite “right” compared to my own experience (ex mk7 GTI/R/GTD/ed40/TCR owner). Always great to hear other people’s experiences though as everyone drives differently and has a different feel for the car’s dynamics/quality/spec/looks etc.

Is it worth a long wait though? If I had to wait 18 months I’d have changed my mind about what car I wanted at least half a dozen times in that time

I'd say its had the mirror cover or surrounds off at some point & its snapped off during that process.

I did it when I was changing my mirror surrounds but luckily I found the bit & gorilla glued it back in place.

Golf mk8 / Adelaide wheel repair

Hi

Managed to curb one of my alloys 19" Adelaides.

Has anyone had one repaired and were you happy with the repair. Concerned it doesn't match the other wheels.
