Cars and parts for sale / Re: AXX de cat wanted
« Last post by The_Doc on Today at 01:36 »
Don’t have a source for a decatted pipe, but why do you want one? It would almost certainly make your car illegal for use on UK roads (if they could meet emissions regs without them, manufacturers would) and there’s not practical reason to need one. All it will do is make your car smell worse, and throw a CEL. Instead of a decat, get a down pipe with a good high flow cat that meets emissions regs, is better for everyone.

General discussion / Re: 2013 Golf GTI DSG Fault
« Last post by barrym381 on 12 July 2025, 14:34 »
Hi guys,

Ive found a 2013 golf gti for sale in marketplace for £5k. it has 103k miles but has a DSG fault.

ive seen on auto trader a 2013 gti with 100k miles is worth around 7-8k, is there a potential flip here?

if i buy the car for cheaper how much would it cost to fix the dsg fault?

I can send screenshots of the sellers advert

Thank you!

Yeah there’s definitely money to be made

Yep, did that also took out the spindle, then you have to push the wheel towards
the front of the car and tilt the wheel  up away from you to clear the inside trim.
It may sound trivial but it seems a really piss poor design.

A design feature that, hopefully, you’ll rarely need. Don’t fret over it and enjoy the car👍

If it's anything like the Polo's then I find it best to pull the tyre towards you and then lift the furthest edge up and out - so the opposite to what you would expect to do.

Found that out trying to lever out a full size spare from my wife's Polo, hopefully it's slight easier with a space-saver in the Golf.

Has anyone placed a ‘join the queue’ deposit of £500 with their local dealer?

VW are clearly expecting a high demand or are they trying to gauge interest??

I haven't joined the queue, but will certainly be looking to get one having had Ed20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 (missed 45).  I think the demand will be greater than the Ed40 which only sold around 570 units by the production date cut-off (of the allocated 1,000 build slots) despite the hype of the CSS.  I reckon there'll be quite a few non VW enthusiasts buying this time around which may make getting one a bit harder.

It all depends on whether VW are going to sell as many as they get orders for by a certain date, or whether they are going limit the production slots and once they're gone that's it.  I think I'm just going to wait and see and hope I don't miss out!
