Clubsport mudflaps
« on: 23 September 2017, 12:29 »
Does anyone know if the standard GTI mudflaps will fit the edition 40 / clubsport?

The side skirts look slightly different but thy may still fit

Dealer can’t say either way

Thanks

A few things come to mind for me when thinking about mudlaps.

Ruin the look of the car
A caravan goes hand in hand with mud flaps
Aerodynamics knackered.

Shoot me down if you like - but it's a dont do it from me.

I would agree, unless you must have Mud Flaps for a specific reason?  Don't do it, for the same reasons stated on the previous post.

Aerodynamics? Are you being serious?

Can’t say I noticed any drag on my lotus but I did notice barely having any stone chips along the sides.

They are barely noticeable and stop stones chips up the side of the car which are more unsightly and more expensive IMO

Sorry I can't answer your original question. But I agree a good set of quality mudflaps makes maintenance of the lower paintwork much easier. I also don't mind the look, the OEM ones are fairly discreet as far as mudflaps go.

Might stop chips up the side but they'll collect dirt, mud and other road crap behind them.

Probably my opinion doesn't matter to the OP but I have to agree that I don't like the looks of them in general and on a unique car like the CSS, such an addition would look truly horrid in my eyes. I'm of the belief that special cars should retain 100% stock look.

Strange that some of the most hardcore & best loved cars have flipping huge mudflaps on them, & when you see them without they look weird...

(rally, motor cross, pikes peak)

To the OP, I don't know if the GTI will fit, maybe get hold of the dealer or VW UK??..if not then buy a set & try..but that's the expensive way..

Isn't that because they all drive off road?!

Let's be honest, mudflaps don't look great unless its a Defender. Have ever seen a supercar with mudflaps? Probably not because it would ruin the looks. If you do a weekly or fortnightly wash they are pointless, unless of course you drive through lots of mud every day....!
