Golf mk8 / Re: Is this the latest software
« Last post by Carlosfandango on Today at 19:57 »
Surely the replaced wheel has its own warranty?

Under VW’s new car factory warranty, items replaced during the warranty period are only warrantable up to the expiry date of the warranty. From the warranty T&C’s on VW’s website;

’Any part which is replaced becomes the property of Volkswagen. Any replaced parts are covered for the unexpired period of the vehicle warranty.’

https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-services/my-car/important-information/warranties-and-insurance/new-car-terms.html

I'd ask citizens advice if that is actually UK legal tbh.... I don't think it is.

Consumer Rights Act 2015 I believe will effectively state that the repair was not completed....no matter what VW might say.

Yes indeed, I’d tend to agree with you here, it’s not a new fault, it’s the same fault that a new part did not fix, they can’t just say ‘we put a new part on it, so though sh*t’.

It's not software... Its the hardware.

The software can be updated on them all but largely the software problems have been trying to deal with the myriad of parts changes they made...

Yes, my final one remains good. I think it was about the lugs that didn’t fit far enough into the slots on the bonnet underside allowing them to sag.

Golf mk8 / Mk8 Gti changes from 2020 - 2024 model year
« Last post by neiln20 on Today at 17:45 »
Hi Folks,

Just wanted to know if anyone else has info on this. Is there any difference in tech / parts / softwear between a 2020 model year compared to say 2021 / 2022 / 2023 etc. I know from reading that alot of people say stay away from a 2020 model year due to the softwear issues but would the same apply to a 2021 car etc.

The rear valance is a pattern one but the sideskirts are genuine VW but they are very expensive for what they are

Had this replaced under warranty on my 2019 7.5 and was told it would not last by the dealership. 20k miles later and it is still fine. Material seems slightly different from the original.

Golf mk6 / Re: Clutch problems, hydraulic?

Is the fluid level going down in the master cylinder without any visible leak? Unlikely but could there be a hydraulic leak in the clutch housing? More likely the slave cylinder seal problem.

I had Koni FSD fitted to my mk5 GTI and they raised the suspension nearly an inch compared to the 48k(ish) OEM’s that came off. Same springs, I didn’t change those. So it’s very possible that B6’s will do the same.

I’ve not tried KW’s. They might not have been freely available in the UK back in the days I was messing about modifying.
The last set up I had (on an elderly SEAT Ibiza Cupra that I ran as a second car for years) was a Bilstein B8 and Eibach springs combo. I’m pretty sure those dampers had shortened pistons(?) and were hard. The Eibachs went on after one of the front springs that came with the Bilsteins snapped. Those were some unknown brand supplied by Euro Car Parts as part of a kit when they were UK distributors. Neither set up rode well on urban roads.
