Superchips limit the torque on their remap for a DSG car .... which is one of the reasons I went with them.  Peak power is similar 'ish  to other maps but lower down it is definitely more sedate on the uptake with the torque restricted - still quick but nowhere near as quick as their manual map.

This has now changed - Superchips have released a revised map for DSG cars that bypasses the torque limit in the ECU for the gearbox and their remap now allows the same torque as the manual version ..... and it is decidedly different !!!

I can't see anyone wanting more than the new Superchips remap for the Edition 30 - it is now VERY quick !   Not too aggressive but certainly in no way lacking in power anywhere !!!

can  you explain, " bypasses the torque limit in the ECU "?

surely as above, there's a torque limit on dsg for a reason?

I believe he's referring to another thread.

My understanding is that Superchips have now decided that the DSG is stronger than originally thought and can take more torque. This means that they realigned the manual and the DSG remaps to sit as one and the same.

The DSG box is officially rated by VW as a 350nm (258lbft) unit. ALL remaps take the box beyond this limit. Mine is running 518nm (382lbft) and running fine (fingers crossed!!) on standard internals and clutch.

The limit is there as a measure for VW to be able to warranty it and the 'box itself should last the lifetime of the car if left standard. Modifying the car simply means that you need to service it more often and it MAY not last the life of the car. :undecided:

ah i see, so superchips had a specific map for manual and dsg, but now all are equal.

wow, 382lbft, that's impressive

what spec is yours?

WTF!           518NM!!!!
I thought it wasn't limited to 400NM on DSG boxes?!  I always assumed mine was running 400nm, around 290lbft so I never bothered checking the torque curve on the dyno output... just checked it now and the torque is 325lbft    That was with Stage 2 Revo, I've now got Stage 2+... I wonder how much I'm running now!  Makes me paranoid about my DSG box though - hope it doesn't pop

I am only going to 250, nothing extreme at all, simon of 'e-maps' will do my car for me in the new year so i guess i am playing it safe at these limits..

If its an ED30/Pirelli surely couldnt you hit 250bhp from just fitting breathing mods? (Airbox + exhuast)

I am looking at mapping my car in the new year and want to know if anyone has had or heard of any issues with the DSG box and mapping, does it cope with the extra OK or not ??

Ask Hurdy     His DSG box couldn't take the pressure - and continuous drag strip starts - and started to slip.. but he was running 330bhp.  My car is DSG with 320 bhp and no issues although I have only done 2k miles on the current remap.  If you go to any decent tuner/garage, they'ill give you the lowdown.
Illyun, have you not gone for the Revo Stage 2+ file now you have the pump on?  As with that I would imagine you're car will be pushing 340-50bhp going off results from other cars with same mods..
Also, how are you finding the EVOMS intake. Is it as loud as they say it is?

Sorry, I didn't see that question VTec... I was running on Stage 2 at that time - 321bhp - with no issues.... although I do remember the revs going up in 2nd and 3rd gear with no acceleration but I put that down to excessive wheel hop and stiff suspension and bumpy roads   I haven't had that problem again though.  I'm now running on Stage 2+ but with boost at 5 and will be going to JKM next week to sort out some idling issues.

400nm is the figure that is regularly bandied about by people on the forums and the odd tuner. The OFFICIAL rating of the box is 350nm and this is why even the TT-S is limited to 350nm.

I'll simply be having my DSG serviced evry 18 months and will eventually get a DSG ECU remap, when I can get my hands on one. If the clutches do eventually go then at least I have HPA to fall back on.
