Ask Hurdy     His DSG box couldn't take the pressure - and continuous drag strip starts - and started to slip.. but he was running 330bhp.  My car is DSG with 320 bhp and no issues although I have only done 2k miles on the current remap.  If you go to any decent tuner/garage, they'ill give you the lowdown.

Come on, hurdy's experience cannot make the rule!! He was at the limits...most people will stage one, anything up to 330 is fine, surely? Perhaps it can take more, I will leave it to those who use their cars for more than just impressing "the burds"

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

Just found something in this article that may be of interest:

http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/article_2507.shtml

Extract from article as follows:

"Twenty minutes later we’re back at the shop and about to go out on our second test drive in a yellow Audi A3 – a car owned by the company’s president Stephen Hooks and driven by virtually anyone else at the company who has the need to grab the keys because the point is to log mileage and test durability. The A3’s got S-tronic, the very same Stage III setup as Gigon’s United Grey GTI and is just as impressive. More importantly, the DSG car has already logged some 20,000 miles of testing with Stage III and can boast no problems experienced with the transmission unit or the clutches."

Now i don't know if the clutches etc have been upgraded or not on the dsg. (by the way, audi's s-tronic is the same as vw's dsg)

Everyone is mentioning BHP outputs!!!

The main thing to consider with the DSG is the Torque capacity as this is what they are rated with.

The 6 speed wet plate DSG is rated at 350nm, which is approx 258lbft.

VW in their infinite wisdom in calculations usually build in between 30 and 40% headroom into their parts which equates to 361lbft with a 40% increase.

Tuners can build into their remaps limitations for torque specifically for DSG cars to keep them under 300lbft, but being my normal self I allowed them to push the boundaries and my last RR it ended up with 382lbft.

The clutch slip I was exhibiting earlier this year was strange as it disappeared after having an early DSG service, so I put it down to experience and forged on now the car is running perfectly.

A standard GTI will map to around 300lbft or a little over and so you should be okay with a remap and the DSG Plowy

Oh and welcome to the forum

Thanks for the input, granted it's the torques that does the damage and the map i am lookin at will be within what you quote, ihave experience of over mapping with a 330D, that screwed up the gearbox proper fashion !!!

Superchips limit the torque on their remap for a DSG car .... which is one of the reasons I went with them.  Peak power is similar 'ish  to other maps but lower down it is definitely more sedate on the uptake with the torque restricted - still quick but nowhere near as quick as their manual map.

Illyun, have you not gone for the Revo Stage 2+ file now you have the pump on?  As with that I would imagine you're car will be pushing 340-50bhp going off results from other cars with same mods..
Also, how are you finding the EVOMS intake. Is it as loud as they say it is?

I think alot of the issues can be down to the individual characteristics of the map, i.e how aggressive and how early the boost kicks in hard. If the boost comes in a little later when the car is already rolling there is less strain on the drivetrain.
