Do i need a power cap for my sub and amp?

Hi im going to fit a 12" sub and amp in my mark 2 golf gti but somebody told me i might need a power cap. Can somebody tell me what they are and what they do? THANKS

trust me when i tell you ya dont need one mate ive been fitting car audio for about 8 years now and have never felt the need to fit a powercap to just an amp and sub set up. there just for larger systems they help with power drainage from yr car battery

Power caps shouldn't be used full stop. If you've been in the business for 8 years - you should really know that.

both my Mk2s run a amp n sub, no caps required shaun  :wink:
