Hi all,

Not been on here for a long time now, but hoping someone could shed some light on my problem (no pun intended).

Basically, started up my mk4 gti T last night and had no headlights. Side lights were ok, fogs ok, full beam ok.

Thought it was a bit odd that both headlights were out, but replaced them and checked the fuses. Still nothing. Don't have any other lights out.

Has anyone got any ideas? Switches, relays, other fuses that could have a knock on effect? I'm glad I just wasted the cash on some new bulbs.

Cheers

Lewis

Might be worth replacing the fuse anyway may look ok but coud be faulty?

Or faulty relay?  :undecided:

anyone got a wiring diagram?, not sure with golfs but some cars (my old MINI's) run the headlights of the same loom Ie wire runs to say N/S headlamp then onto O/S so if there was a break in the wire or water in the plug both would be out,

or just thought most likely culprit is the switch inside

Replaced all the fuses... no joy.

Where should I be checking the wiring? Any usual culprit points? As for the switch, I'm assuming you mean the main dial? Everything else works on it fine. Does it just pop out and reveal the contacts or is it more complex than that?

Cheers for you input guys, appreciated.

Yeah dont know how you can test it tho?  :undecided:
To remove your switch  With the switch in the OFF(0) position, Press IN firmly on the switch as deep as you can, hold it down and turn it clockwise. The knob will lock into place and the clips behind the dash will retract. Now you can pull the knob towards you and it will slide out.
