Creaking
« on: 01 June 2004, 20:42 »
Hi Folks

I know this sounds stupid but my MK3 8V creaks at the rear between 10 & 30 MPH on small side roads or when pulling off. This only happens on a warm day or when coming off motorway aftera run.

Car was brought under warranty from VW who spent a day trying to find it taking interior panels from the rear quarter and lubricated everything underneath the car. When i brought the car it had lowered suspension which i  changed for standard this did help but has not cured it suggesting it could be flex in shell ??. Car has also had new rear bushes which improved the car no end but made no difference to the creak. car is totally original and has never had paint or been panelled.

ANYONE ANY IDEAS AS THIS IS REALLY PI**ING ME OFF.

Thanks

This might be irrelavent but today when i was working on my car i noticed when i let down the trolley jack (which was positioned on the passenger side) a creaking came form the rear wheel ,maybe suspension but not to sure.
Could be worth just jacking up your car and releasing it to see if you get the creaking noise
If you do get a m8 to listen in various places to pin point the noise
Good luck
