Ed 30 brakes not so good
« on: 09 November 2008, 20:50 »
Has anyone else noticed that the brakes on the Edition 30 are not so good!

I was thinking about upgrading to R32 brakes, will this make much of a difference or will I need to get better master cylinder(possibly)

If do get them how easy are the back to do,bearing in mind that they are off a 4 wheel drive.

any help welcome.

Maybe its just my driving style

Its just I had a mark 4 tdi before and felt a bit better.

Brakes are clean and moving ok so its not an issuse with sticking brakes.

I didn't think the brakes were too bad, although they are the same as the standard gti, but like others, i don't brake heavily.
However, as VW has hiked the bhp of the ed30  :smug: you would have thought they would have changed the brakes to the R32 as a matter of course, for safety reasons

....

AFAIK the Ed30 has exactly the same brakes as the GTI. They're good until you try something like AP's or Hurdy's Tarox, then it's the difference between chalk and cheese.

Most VAG brakes are known for feeling over servo'd and not as direct in the pedal feel response.

Mine are plenty good, then again i have the R32 front set up
the brake servo from the r32 and the ed30 are the same item. You can once the R32 set up is on the car change via vag com to let the car now its got a better set up. this info was supplied by T/T on various other threads.

I agree that getting better pads in the first instance will make a world of difference.

didnt like the brakes on my ed30 so put the r32/leon cupra front brakes on mine and noticed a huge difference in stopping power. A very worthwhile mod IMO. Especially if your planning to map your ed30
