See dont get me wrong i love cleaning my car as i used to be a valeter and now i paint for a living so i know exactly whatu mean about how AWFUL some of the new cars paint jobs are.

But please would some body explain to me the point in a entire website dedicated to people who clearly have nothing better to do than take picturesof start, middle, finish. Listing what products you use.

I remeber reading a thread from that very website this guy bought a Nurburgring Edition Astra in White and this guy was so sad that he asked for half hour alone with it when he was picking it up to go over it with a micrometre to check for paint blemishes and after that he got it home and set about photo graphing every square inch of it and taking off everybadge and doing a stupid amount of washing and polishing . . . . . . .

it's addictive, therapeutic, time consuming, pointless, expensive, fun, sad, knackering but ultimately satisfying

there is nothing better than making a car look the b0llocks when it looked a shed beforehand

I would detail a new car... but I do understand what you mean about Astra boy though... 50+ coats of wax (including 3 coats of crystal rock!) is silly.

im with guy on that one, its extremelly saticfying to get a shed of a motor and make it look new again.
valeting is a bit different from detailing,

valeting is skimming over the surface and just making it look presentable, detailing is a whole different ball game

The clearcoat layer on a car is usually 30-40 microns so removing 10 of these when the car is new is not a good idea. Also, paint manufacturers add a UV resistant chemical to the clearcoat which migrates to the surface when cured. take off the top layer and the UV resistance is pretty much gone

when i got my vxr a few months back i gave a few coats of jet seal and a good wax just to protect the finnish, i didnt polish it as tbh it didnt need it (well not in my eyes). I have found jet seal 109 to be very good stuff, seems to last very well. You need to get something on the paint at this time of year
