Old story but same problem

Really gutted sold my bmw M3 csl on monday  just picked up new 330i auto conv sport tuesday from work  , Whats doing my head in that the bmw is well better on petrol than my mk4 20vt. Most i get from my golf 28-29mpg on a run. went  to wolverhampton see the parents last night in the bmw 34mpg, even the csl i could get 30-32ish on a push. Anyway missus loving the new car, already filthy with 320miles on clock.

thing is mate, you want milage, get a derv. :S i constaly worry about fuel consumption but once i get my turbo its going to drop

You should be able to get 35-40 mpg taking it easy in the 1.8 T, so I expect there's a prob, unless u use more throttle in the golf, w/o realizing??

Ps  I thought u were never going to sell the CSL, LOL!!

I'm convinced the new air filter has helped economy a little, I'm getting slightly higher figures than before

Thats what i said but got good offer for it and 3k off the one i just bought otherwise would never have sold it. csl cost me around 17k to put on road after last guy crashed it, sold it for 29k so 12k profit not bad and it needs discs and pads allround.  But need to get consumption on mk4 sorted have changed temp sensor need to put original air filer housing back on. Just got dsg intake system from vwspeed and a ram air panel filter.

Anyway pics of under my car also found roll bar touching brake pipe securing point. Need to change drop links back to standard and wishbone bushes.

Love the new E92. Only thing I would say is . . . . auto !!!

Lazy man's drive missus uses it, its got steering wheel padal shift so feels like my csl NOT. Really nice drive just ruise at 80mph gettin 35mpg. cant go wrong with that.
